Title: Binary Newsgroups
Post by: soopahfly on July 07, 2010, 12:16:35 PM
Im looking at getting my own newsgroup subscription, as my current solution is very unreliable.

What are the best ones to go for?

Sure, If I go that route.

Its a bit much though, cost wise.  Ive come across Astraweb, they are doing an unlimited offer for $11 a month.
# Binary retention rate - 665+ days
# Completion rate - 99%+
# Download speed - excellent
# Anonymous downloading and posting
# Uncensored newsgroup access
# Secure - free 256-bit SSL encryption
# Alternate ports - 119, 563, 443
# Special Offers - $11 unlimited Usenet

Ill bear Giganews in mind, if I have problems with Astra.

But first, Im trying to get SabnzbPlus running on my Linkstation

Ill second Giganews. Fantastic service and have EU based servers which is nice.
I dont feel like being a whore, so you can use Eggs referral :p

If youre going to go down this route its also worth taking a look at the NZB indexing sites. Newsbin and NZBMatrix are two; Newsbin has just been wrung through the courts though and is currently back in a new "second" life...

I couldnt manage to get SabNZBPlus to work on my Linkstation which is why its sitting unused under the sofa. I use NewsLeecher on Windows and set it to auto download / decompress.

Not used Newsgroups in years tbh but signed up to the Astraweb deal after spotting it here a couple of days ago, speed is great and maxes out my 20meg connection no matter what time I use it, cheers for posting it
