strange problem...
new system build... when its posting etc.. its messed up, some of the charicters are wrong, i.e. "memory" is "me7ory"
its not always the same, and its pretty random, did it once before, but then it went away.... now its here to stay :(
it gets into windows, but thats messed up too, nothing works right, it wont change up from 480x640 (or whatever it is!) and the icons etc.. look like Windows ME.....
any ideas anyone ?
the psu has started to beep (its a fancy 1000w one) which apparently means psu fan fail.... happens if the psu fan drops below 400rpm.... but the fan is going fine and its cold....
ok, this obv. points to the psu... but as Ive just sent back 2 x gforce8800 and a m/b Id rather make sure first.... (before Im banned from tekheads!)
The only time i have had similar problems was when the ram on my gfx card was dying .
damn!
2 cards at £350 each.... and ive alread sent the first pare back....
tekheads wont be happy with me :(
Ill try just 1 card.... then the other :o
Yup sounds like a duff graphics card. Got an old reliable one to test with?
Make sure the mobo supports the CPU.
I recently upgraded from a CeleronD to a PentD 935 and whilst the mobos manufactuer website said the mobo would support a 935, it didnt. I had to put the CeleronD back in and upgrade the bios, then the 935 worked.
If you post up the full spec ill have a ferret around for any SLI solutions.
Have not tried SLI myself(lack of loot)
Ive had similar problems when I had duff sdram.
system is.....
Abit KN9 Sli nForce 550 PCI-E (Socket AM2) DDR2 Motherboard
Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ (Socket AM2)
Lian Li PC-V2000 Aluminium Case - Silver
BFG nVidia GeForce 8800GTX OC 600MHz 768MB DDR3 Dual DVI/HDTV Out (PCI-E)
Corsair Twin2X 2GB DDR2 (2x1024MB) XMS2 6400
Enermax 1000W Galaxy Silent Modular EPS12V PSU
(just copied from my tekheads account history!)
3 x 200gig sata drives
1 x sata dvd drive
all nice and cool etc....
system is driving me nuts, gfx cards looked a bit iffy when they arrived (suspect it was the delivery guy treating em rough) and when i tried to run the sytem they both died and took the m/b with them :(
already swaped them out, and now this !
p.s. it wasnt so bad before.... but its getting worse :(
Only thing i can suggest is running 1 @ a time to see if it a problem with SLI.
Make sure you have the latest bios for the mobo.
Latest drivers for the cards .
Use Memtest to test memory .
Other than that dont know m8.
