Title: Black Keys: Magic Potion
Post by: maximusotter on November 20, 2006, 19:07:21 PM
Good stuff, released into the wild in September, but I just got around to checking it out.

Theyre one of those bands thats been hyped up so much by folks I know that I never sat down and listened to them. My bad. Serious mistake.

Like a two man Zepp thats about 2,000 miles closer to the Delta.

Blues lovers, White Stripe fans and critics alike should love this one:

WHOA. what can i say, ive been waiting for something this angst for ages. strikes of real life hardship, lots of fuzz and a gibson lp classic.

a must for guitar fans as the slide guitar on this is IMMENSE.

Ive heard the back catalogue is even better. Ill have to explore it some time.

Rocking to "Your Touch" atm and its indeed immense, murky, and somehow liberating. Theres nothing to get, just let the sludgey goodness wash over your nekkid body!

maybe not naked. but its good. the tone of that guitar is to DIE for imo. thats vintage, coupled with good amp micings.

AFAIK, it was recorded on a 1" Tascam 8 track, which combined with good amps, totally compresses and tightens the bottom end.
