Ok, Power on, Detects CPU, does ram check fine. then when it comes to detecting IDE devices it just doesnt.
it was fine, then it detected them reallyt slowly(several mins) and now it doesnt even do that.
Any ideas what could be causing this ?
thanks in advance
edit: ive tryed swapping cables to ones i know work, tryed only doing 1 hard drive and dvd drive. (havent tested them in a different PC but theey were all working fine)
try unpolugging all ide and trying to boot like tha, then tell us what happens :)
As knighty says remove all the devices and try plugging them back in one at a time.
It may be a faulty device, interface or the power supply may be getting strained.
Also seen this happen when two IDE drives on the same channel are both set to master or both set to slave.
Showing in Bios?
when they were finding them but slowly you could see them in bios
jumpers are all set correctly
carnt right now but il try boot with nothing plugged in 2moz afternoon/night
Ok, Unplugged all booted up fine and went to bios.
then tryed plugging each device 2hard drives and dvd drive. 1 at a time
hard drives iver VERY slow but didnt detect after around 1 min
DVD drive. it detected it in seconds (as it used 2)
so i think the problem is some were between hard drives and the IDE slot.
edit: just tryed hard drives on the secondary IDE slot detected fine.
i guess that points to a problem with the primary IDE slot ?

or possibly the cable?
tryed a different cable
how many IDE devices do you have ?
if its just the one hard drive and one dvd drive, then stick em both on the same cable in the 2nd ide port :)
youll need to set one to master and one to slave with the little jumpers on the back ;)
hopefully thatll fix it :)
hopefully. but was plannign to sell the "unit" and having 1 dead IDE port will lower the value :<
edit: well it apears to be working fine now. apart from the primary ide slot.
tthanks for every ones help
