you have any minimum specs/requirements?

without looking around in to much detail i remeber seeing a barebones system in maplin for Ã,£129
http://www.maplin.co.uk/search.aspx?MenuNo=523&MenuName=Barebone+Kits&worldid=4&FromMenu=y&doy=22m7
just needs HDD and RAM from what I can see. silent, plenty of scope for upgrading and a pretty cute case.

nice offer knighty. can i have a couple of weeks to save first lol.

all in one offers guys, im not looking to faff around sticking components in because i cannot be arsed with it.

min specs,

anything quicker than 2 gig (except macs)
must come with 512 meg of ram as standard
40 gig hdd as standard (more is a bonus)
MUST come with a monitor, pref flatscreen. because i want it to look swizz
must come with kb + mouse.
cdrw/dvd

ijust want something to do basic 3d work on at uni, browsing the web etc...

im not much of a gamer but anything which can run hl2 nicely would improve things indeed.

Fujitsu Celeron tower, Ã,£186
Buy another 256MB RAM to fit to it and a 15" TFT of your choice, youll come in well under Ã,£300

For Ã,£300 you are either compromising on something, or buying a piece of crap.

However
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/103124 : Slap your own copy of XP on it.
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/89079 : Buy TFT to go with it and again, slap a copy of XP on it with some more RAM.

Remember that if you install the RAM yourself your warranty is void.  Also if you got a cheaper lappy you wont be able to fit more than one stick of RAM in them as they tend to come with the single slot already filled.
