Its impossible!!!
Stuck on hold forever, cant cancel online & they also store & keep your credit card numbers!!! Im going to see a mate whos a win no fee solicitor & see if he fancys taking them a court as they refuse to remove my CC details despite me asking them to.
I found it very annoying that you cannot just click cancel on xbox live. I emailed them and they said they could not cancel it by email for security reasons.
So the only option seems to be to call them. Once I got through they were fine and canceled it right away.

Common thing these days, people wanting to hold onto your details like this
Had a number of sales phone calls spamming us and us asking them to remove the data from their systems, I have even quoted direct data protection act bits, with them saying they will they do not, some argue as well that it does not apply since they are calling outside the UK - I then use EU as well as informing them it is a uk company they work for in trade in the UK to a Uk resident if they bring that up so it does apply
Best thing is when you get someone on the phone refusing, I start by re-iterating the fact, inform them that a number of times I have asked and they have not done so, I have contacted my solicitor who is in full agrement and no doubt the people on other end of the phone are in the wrong (only done so once but not for other times :) ) I then ask for the persons name on the phone and then ask for a person in charge informing them that you will be using their name as being the person in direct violation of the DPA and that they will be lucky to keep their job over it.
Doing so I have had my data gone there and then a few times and one even hung up on me and never heard from them again :)
It tends to be the person on the phone with no clue more then anything tbh, in a nice way point it out like I do and they soon sing a different tune
i swear they didnt have my latest credit card, yet suddenly i get billed for it... after them sending me hundreds of e-mails asking me to renew, tis plain odd
Micro$oft - Because you HAVE NO CHOICE!
Slightly O/T but if you want to stop sales phone calls, sign up on the Telephone Preference Service (http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/).
It makes sales phone calls to registered numbers illegal, so if they phone you, tell them and the usual answer is something like "Very sorry sir, will remove your number right away", then they dont call any more :)
Although if youve signed up for X-Box Live service they are entitled to call you because your a customer not a cold call.
However, I found that reporting my CC stolen and getting a new one stopped M$ from charging the fella.

IF they offer their business/services outside their own country, then they are liable to follow the laws of the country they wish to trade in.
You may have a problem with an item purchased overseas. You are still allowed to contact Trading Standards about them & they have a duty to chase after it.
