Title: Cheapest way to own Guitar Hero?
Post by: addictweb on February 21, 2008, 19:08:16 PM
I really want Guitar Hero. I only have an Xbox 1 and my PC is nowhere near capable of playing it.

Im trying to work out the cheapest way of getting the game, a suitable console and preferable 2 guitar controls.

So far I think its:

Preowned PS2 ~ £30 - £40?
GH3 with Guitar ~ £45
Extra guitar ~ £35

Thats £110-120! Anyone work out a cheaper/better way of doing it?

This is the same problem Im having.

The best option I can see is an X-Box, as for themoney youre paying its not worth bothering with a PS2.

I want GH2

Id be paying a lot more if I went for a 360 instead of a PS2, the GH game and control would still be £75 but about £100 extra on the console.

I really only want guitar hero, so all the added extras of the 360 dont really mean much.

Bah buy a guitar and spend a few months learning it. far more satisfying!

Personally I use one of these :

Only if you are from East Lancashire!

Ive just picked a Banjo up for the 1st time in about 4 years, cant remember sh*t about playing it either.  I just love the sound, and i prefer not to do what every other bugger does and learn guitar.  Why be a sheep?

Hmmm have to disagree with you there but each to their own. Theyre alright as a novelty but for me you cant even compare the two.

That said I have tried to purchase a banjo on several occassions but my g/f keeps stopping me on account of not having enough space... maybe I should get rid of a guitar or two!!

How do you find that Rivkid? Im in the market for a new electric about that budget, and I must admit Ive never actually played an ESP before. My Warlock is well and truly cream crackered after many years of abuse and I thought Id try something different to BC Rich, they are all Ive really owned and played aside from an Epiphone Les Paul Std many years ago. I was looking at Jackson and PRS but some of those ESP look to have the right features in the right price range (in fact a bit under my budget) as well.

Beaker... good for you for trying to be unique (and I admit that there are plenty of wannabe rockstars who have no love for guitar but play it anyway) but did you ever consider that a lot of people play the guitar because they actually quite like the noise it makes? Just a thought.

I did actually mean a 360 Nath, I wouldnt bother with an original X-box either. I just figure if youre spending over a hundred for essentially one game you might as well spend the extra for a console thats going to be more worthwhile. over £100 for Guitar Hero and a crap console is too expensive. over £200 or so for Guitar Hero and a gaming console you could double for a media center is okay in my books. So ends my daft logic :)

Ill just answer quickly before we hijack the thread!

Ive owned some beautiful guitars in my life but the MH-250 is the best of the lot. I bought it when I was in PV as a thrash guitar and for 2 years thats all it did. When the band quit I started back with indie and the blues and I thought Id have to swap it but it just totally stepped up to it. The tone and resonance (even clean) is just to die for and the action is the nicest Ive ever found. I hate floating trems but once I locked this down it became my fav electric guitar ever. For thrash though plug it into my marshall or my Boss-MT2 and its absolutely killer too. As always though its personal pref so try before you buy!!

Or learn both guitar hero and guitar!(bass!)

Bass. :) Its the way.

I teach guitar and bass and one of my students - an 11 year old lad is annoying the cr*p out of me since he got GH3! His parents say if only he played on his guitar as much as he played on GH hed be amazing by now! ...Unfortunately, hes not.

HMV have PS2 guitar hero 3 with wireless Kramer guitar for £30. I picked up two of these and a 2nd hand PS2 from a mate for £30.

£90, but its so god damn worth it.

Think the cheapest method is to buy an xbox 360 controller for it, and install frets of fire :)
