no need for that.
On the one hand, its easy to think hes being a complete arsehole without a looking glass into exactly what went on there, but on the other hand Im inclined to think he was under a lot of stress and lost his temper then went overboard at the guy. It happens, he shouldnt have gone on for as long as he did, but it does happen.
I stormed out of the office a week ago because Id had enough of something, if I hadnt I probably would have done exactly what he just did.
Some would insist the lighting man was sacked on the spot. Workers should know whats going on and avoid walking onto set during filming.
OK he goes on about it, but so does Gordon Ramsay, every time someone burns hos soufflés.
what annoys me is his half british/half american accent
he wasnt really that bad... he did go on for way too long, but you couldnt hear what the other guy was saying... and he did say "youre a nice guy really" a few times etc...
anyone ever spoke to me like that they would be picking them self up off the floor.
from what I gather the lighting dude wasnt happy with the lighting so was adjusting it, aka doing his job.

And Im sure you would enjoy your stay in jail and finding another job.

He shouldnt be adjusting while filming is going on, so not doing his job, and hes been told before.

Im surprised more people dont speak to you like that with that attitude
so you would accept to be spoken to like that by a co-worker?
They arnt exactly on the same work plateau. If anything Bale would be his superior, being the star.

it was Shane Hurlbut who was the Cinematographer, and as such really should know better

lol, so your boss can talk to you like that?
i give up, you must all get treated like sh*t all the time if you think thats ok.
Yes, if Id done something Id consider grossly incompetent. Ive took verbal bollockings on the chin before. You take it on the chin and move on. Personal pride is fine if you believe youre right, but if you cock up you take it like a man.
:gag: crazy, Im glad i get some respect in my job.
I command plenty of respect. You dont have to be able to give your boss backchat or a black eye to get respect. Honestly, how many times have you been put in this kind of position?
Ive made mistakes in my career but would never expect to receive a barrage of swear words, and on the other hand Ive had people that Ive been in charge of make major mistakes and wouldnt dream of speaking to them like that. Quite a good one recently is an apprentice messing around while Ive been working live on 33kV underground cables, I had a word with him but didnt completly abuse or insult him.
There is telling off and there is just being a prick.

I think they both just had an off day, Shane (had to look him up) must have been having a really big one. People like Bale tend to be perfectionists so anything that goes wrong can set them off. Ive worked with the type, the best way is to remain polite, ignore any swearing, and wait until they have calmed down.
I think the only one who is really bothered about it is DEViANCE. Ive been shouted at a few times, usually when it wasnt my fault. Really it depends on who and what they are doing, there has been instances where I have regarded it as excessive and done something about it.

And you would just have a word with him when he did the same thing a second time? It was clear this wasnt the first time he had done it during this scene.
Aint it Cool had a nice appraisal:

Got a great idea for a TV show: "Bale vs Bale" - Christian Bale tries to act out a scene while Gareth Bale keeps running into shot to intercept a long ball...

Seems there are plenty of stars willing to defend him on this.
