It's been a while since I did anything techy, and this is a first for me really. My main computer, which has been stable and not had any issues with for 18-24 months, sometimes will go into a reboot loop when I turn it on.
EG, I was using my computer all day today without issue. Turned it off at 5, took the dog for a walk, came back, turned the computer on, and it rebooted about 6-7 times before windows loaded. It also seemed like it'd reboot at different stages in the boot-up sequence.
I'm wondering if there are any built in windows dumps/logs (windows 10), or programs out there that can help diagnose if anything's failing? I CBA doing individual tests like memtest and SMART stuff, there must be some freeware that lumps it all together for you?
It sounds like a hardware problem, memtest a good idea and possible logs are enabled in BIOS or enable and see result next time it happens.
It's likely either to be hardware which could just include a badly seated heatsink or could be a driver update that is unstable perhaps.. I guess it would be a good idea to check updates since you've noticed the problem and roll some back.. Also worth just reseating ram and PSU connectors.. But in all likeliness either duff ram or mobo
Basically, it could be anything.
Xentity has the basics covered, disable automatic restart on failure and you might see that it's generating a blue screen when it's rebooting.
