got it last night, and its actually pretty good.  Runs perfectly on my rig, and it isnt a "Killer" rig at all.

Im dling it but I doubt itll work too well on me 6600gt.

edit: it looks sh*t on my pc (obviously) but its loads of fun. Dual pistols = awesome. Fists+Stealth combo = awesome. I ran out of ammo after the beach bit and punched my way through most of the rest. You can stealth right up to a bunch of 4 or 5 baddies and get the first punch in before they notice you. Then they start running away :) This is on easy cos Im crap at fps games (except Quake 3).

Playing on low detail sucks though, its hard to aim and you cant see owt through the grass when youre belly crawling. Bodies disappear too soon so its hard to find ammo. Guns are weird, I one-shotted a baddie on a boat, but then I emptied a whole clip at another dude and he was still running around. Custom thing is really cool.

Its long for a 1st level though, I needed a break halfway through.

All sorts of graphical corruption at my end. No idea why and since its an EA release I cant really be bothered finding out, Ill just give it a miss.

Played it on all low settings at a decent res, looked amazing and was very fluid. Ill probably aquire it some time in the future.

One thing that bugs me, they have these amazing suits of power, yet they cant make an accurate gun?

I just tried it on high and it crashed my pc and im at 2.6 on a core 2 duo with 2 gig, lol
7950gt not cut out for that, will try medium later
Got some errors on medium with the graphics but it ran smooth but found out my drivers need updating and that there are fixes for games like crysis

im playing with a similar level power machine, 6000+ and 1950XT with 2Gb RAM.  Turn the shadown down and itll play fine.  Im tinkering with my settings atm, and im getting a consistent 25fps with everythign maxed apart form the shadows.  I think if i was playing it "properly" i would be thinking about turning a few other things down, though at the moment it looks fine for goofing off with.

I get it to run with a few on high and medium but the graphics even in low are scrwed, I get like a two scale effect on the screen with left half a colour right have a light colour and objects and textures not loading properly and at the start all you see is the peoples eyes

I thought it was going to take forever before I realised it was counting in mb/s not kb/s :o

I got that, changing from 800x600 to 1024x786 fixed it for me.

You have to have shaders on high I found otherwise it does it
Physics are amazing, really nice engine

http://webpages.charter.net/bliss/

Just shows that dx10 does look better but even on a game that is bonkers like this game there really is barley any differences in games
I mean the colour differences you could just tweak your video card colour settings to get it look a little better and more like the dx10

Am I the only one that finds this, and farcry, both look a bit...well...rough around the edges? I mean, crytek has put so much effort into creating a lush jungle environment, that for most computers to be able to run it, the lush jungle elements have to be so basic that the element of realism gained from lots of foliage is lost due to how jagged it looks?

Physics - good, though I noticed that it seemed when shooting out to sea at boats, the "splashes" were about 30 further away than the boat was, not sure what was up with that.

Graphics - see above. Looks ok I guess, running on med settings is ok and smooth, until all hell breaks loose. Its annoying when this happens, especially in cut scenes, the most interesting bits suffer in performance, whilst the boring bits are ok. The other choice is to have yucky looking boring bits so the few interesting mad bits run smoothly...

Sound - was cool. I quite like the difficulty settings changing the language to korean at higher difficulty. I want to see if you can play it on normal but with korean languages.

atmosphere - the music and story and effects do make it seem quite cool and engrossing. When i get round to playing the whole game Ill def have to tweak it to run a bit more smoothly...

When you not playing it to the full potential - yeah it wont look right and this and farcry make no bones about it - top end dogs bollux pc or it will look crap and it is not aimed at low spec pcs at all

Objects have thickness and if you shoot through something it will go through it

I liked being able to cut through tree with the gun on the humvee.

Indeed. My point however is more that some less "chart" games have managed to look good maxed out on top spec machines, whilst still looking ok on much more basic settings too. Maybe its just not possible with this kind of game, as obviously losing the vegetation would change things dramatically.

If we presumed the shot went where the crosshair was (were talking single shot whilst prone etc, not automatic with me firing constantly) the splash would appear in the area where the crosshair was, not 1cm above it is what i mean! And this is easily reproducable and not a case of accuracy of the gun, as if it was, surely the splashes would also appear in front or to the sides. Or have they factored in different materials in crysis so the physics calculates ricochets through the front of the hull and the back, angling the bullets off totally in random areas...

I noticed the petrol cans are really bouncy when you throw them at the com-thing youre supposed to disable.

Theres a delay in firing and the bullet hitting the target if you shoot long-distance. I aint noticed bullets landing in odd places though. Ill try shooting like youre saying later.

The AI is well tardy sometimes, theyll shoot each other and throw kamikazi grenades. If you shoot them in the back sometimes theyll aim their guns 180 degrees from you. They cant aim for sh*t in general, I let a bloke with a pistol have a go and it took him 10 shots to hit me (lying on a rock & visible).

The bit where you dl stuff from the Internet theres a fence around that outpost - get the other side of it along the rocks and you can shoot them and they cant even see you lol.

Gonna try on hard later.

Those warships shoot missiles btw :)

Ive seen a few videos of the demo. The suit seems a very powerfull tools.

Some chap was switching between stealth and super stregnth to stay hidden and on top of rooftops.  AI seems very easy to confuse if you take advatage of these tools and create distractions.

I will have to get around to playing the demo some time.

I have to say I was not impressed with the AI, halo 3 has better AI but it is the same with many games it depends on where the focus of development goes

I cant believe you can pick up a tree but you cant hit people with them. cloak + tree bat would be sweet as.

I played it again today in windowed mode, having tweaked some settings. Put a few things on high and a few things on low, everything else on med.

Ran much smoother and looked better. In Vista no less.

Though right at the end where the demo ends, it BSODd me haha. Whether this is due to vista, or the nvidia driver, or my RAM I dunno (Long saga with ram, ended up being a case of the timings not being autoconfigured by the BIOS. Previously anything memory intensive would crash the computer. Has been crash free until now...)

If you jump to just over half way through the show if your not a fan you can see a crysis preview running a core 2 duo, 2gig ram with one 8800gt card and it looks really good
