Title: dell PCs.... are theyre any without vista ?
Post by: knighty on August 01, 2007, 21:56:54 PM
my sister asked me to find her a new pc, and shed like on from dell because shes been happy with them so far (fast turn around / good help etc.. when my nephews pc broke)

but I cant see any with XP on instead of vista ?

...she used some specialist accounts programs etc.. and i dont know how well theyll run on vista....

plus... she needs it to work 100% with what she wants/does

so does anyone know how she can get a dell with xp pro on it instead of vista ?

and/or if itll do anything to her warenty of i format it and install xp pro on it ?   (igroring software support which she wont use)

XP is only available on the business range machines, and then only on a few of them.  Might be better off looking at a barebones or similar if she specifically wants XP.

I thought dell were still seeling with XP and afaik dell warranty is for the hardware.  You can do what you want with the OS.  Dont take my word for that though.

Ye you can get them with XP and I think if you phone them you can request XP.

Check out //www.dmxdimension.com

The site basically lists all* the deals that dell are offering at the moment, so you can get some really good deals!

try googling the applications she used and see if they are vista compatible? or if there is a patch for them?
