Couldnt find a topic about it, so sorry if there is!
To be honest, when i first heard about a 4th Die hard, my reaction was "oh no, please no". But i have to say, i loved it. Better than the 2nd and 3rd for sure.
Plenty of McClane humour and plenty of action sequences.
Would definitely reccommend it to anyone who likes some action.
I loved it. Better than the 2nd, But Im not sure where I place it compared to the 3rd. I think Id need to watch it again a couple more times to decide.
Considering the rating, the director and the age of old Brucie, it was pretty damn good - the man still does a lot of his own stunts. Nice to see some real effects too and not all CGI.
Everyone go see it, its a Die Hard film!
:w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:
Amazing! :D great fun to watch... I just wish they didnt feel the need to make all the computers involved look like they came from an episode of star trek.
I thought it was pretty good, no way is it as good as 1 or 3 though!
It was a little too over the top in places, but still not bad at all :)
It definitely was a little over the top in parts, but then you expect that a little from Die Hard I guess :) On a nights reflection Id say it definitely wasnt as good as 3. I quite like 2 even though it is the worst of the bunch. If this had someone like McTiernan at the helm it could have beaten 3.
Made great hangover viewing.
The truck/bridge/F-35 sequence was great plus the traffic lights going out high level multi street view. Great stunts throughout really.
I dont think its as strong as 1 & 3, but its definitely better than 2... which I still enjoy as well.
Cant wait to see 4.0! It was never going to be as good as 1 but if its as good as 2 Ill be happy. I thought 3 was the weakest personally anyway.
Worst out of the lot. No smoking, no swearing, no proper punchups, too much shakyvision and way over the top. McClanes character was ruined. That fit bird should never have died so early, she was the only good baddie in it.
2/5 imo - yet another example of why making c18 films PG-13 is a bad idea.

like robocop 3
I was actually sat thinking about halfway through how I hadnt even noticed the lack of swearing. The fit chinese bird didnt do a fat lot, but I didnt want it to turn into a kung-fu/Parkour-fest and Im glad both those characters didnt swamp the screen time.

Bang on the money there, Parkour is due to fizzle out methinks, ok its cool and whatever, but its pretty much finding its way into the mainstream a bit much, I liked it in bond, but im glad it didnt go overboard in Die Hard.
We need to rally -
McTiernan for Die Hard 5
Oh and did anyone else notice the subtle product placement of Snickers and Alienware
ahaaa, Found out now why they are called differently now in the us, Apparently the idea of the title has always been 4.0 first which indicates digital and computers as that is the underline theme of the movie but apparently The American Folk as always did not get the title and so the different title for the US folk as apparently most of them do not even realise the plot line and what is going and only know of what mainly happens.
Oh dear, poor chaps over there (just seen it on tv)
Lame.
Worst of the lot, it was "entertaining" but not a good film.
CGI was terrible in parts, what with the floating people "running" out of different american administration buildings with the anthrax alarms, the F35 cannons seemingly only making small holes in the front of the cab the first time it shot stuff... then finally blowing it to smithereens the second time (like they suddenly realised the first time was crap).
Generally just an alright film. Definately doesnt beat the other 3.
ive never seen No1 tbh, but I loved No2 and 3 so will defo be seeing this

OMG, WHa? 1 and 2 have just crap loads after crap loads of some of the best movie 1 liners for an action film

I expect you to obtain it this weekend before you get lynched tbh!
All time definitive action classic. The others pale in comparison.
ill make it my mission to watch it this weekend, if I fail, Ill terminate myself.

"welcome to the party, Pall"
now I have a machine gun
ho-ho-ho
no f***ing s*** lady does it sound like Im ordering a pizza?
They overdone the jet fighter scene on the spaghetti junction! some of the maneouvres just seemed downright silly and made me cringe.
There just wasnt a nemesis like Alan Rickman from Die Hard 1, for a truely great movie of good vs bad, you need an evil mofo that you despise (or love!) too. That was a letdown too, some nooby freshfaced actor ive never seen before being pitted against New Yorks finest, didnt cut it with me.
But, ill admit, i enjoyed the movie, was entertaining throughout :)
Okay people, how do you all rate the baddies?
For me its:
1. Alan Hans Rickman. Legendary nemesis. Tricky with accents, and has sinister wit. Doesnt mind spoiling a nice suit if he has to.
2. Jeremy Simon Irons. Always a good performer, he brings a nice edge to the badguy in 3. Genuinely believable as a nasty.
3. Nude hotel room kung-fu man [I forgot his name]. Doesnt say much, but likes to slit throats and is pretty hard, unlike the other baddies.
4. Timothy Gabriel Elephant. Bit too whiny for my liking, not very scary really and not a killer.
without a doubt its hanzzzzz :D
my dad always said hollywood always depicted english actors as the bad guys
i always brushed that off as an ignorant comment, but die hard 1 brought home how true he was, alan rickman was suited like a glove to the role of hans, an evil twisted sadistic maniac hell bent on greed :D
Trouble is while they may cast English men the characters are more often German!
I very much enjoyed it. I dont think there was anything major to complain about. Willis certainly has some McLane left in him. I dare say it was right up there with the first one, not better though.
On a side note that "hampster" henchmen was very tallented, as choreographed as it may have been.
I was slightly worried the geek plot was going to drag it down towards the end, but thankfully it worked.
thank f**k i watched it in france, so i didnt understand the geek plot.
bang band etc...
action films should appeal to an international audience, even tho you dont understand the dubbing.
i give it 4/5 tbh due to the fact i couldnt follow half the dialogue.
Spoiler....
You used a car to take down a helicopter?"
"I was out of bullets"
well i thought it was a brilliant film. and i dont even like the die hard films, but this one was awesome!

I hate it when people get all arsey when someone says they havent seen a film. "Oooh you have to see it" and all that b*ll*x!
However in this case - ITS TRUE! I cant believe you didnt watch the first - its one of the greatest action films ever (in fact it probably IS the greatest action film ever!).
Oh and as for baddies - yes Alan Rickmans Hans is my favourite movie baddie ever. I even sampled him saying What was it you said to me before... yippie kai yay, motherf*cker" at the beginning of a song I put out once (shush copyright shush!). But then he was a great baddie in Robin Hood too - mans a legend!
OK I have seen em all. Watched the two disk Ultimate Action Edition which is a bit harder than the cinematic one. Cert 15.
Everything is there for a Die Hard film still. OK Willis is a bit older, and there wasnt as much swearing as in previous ones, but that doesnt make much difference TBVFH. Its still a well packed action film along the lines of someone just happening to be in the wrong place at the right time and having to kick the baddies collective butts. Better than 3, possibly than 2. Although Willis thought it equalled the first I am not too sure.
Graphics certainly were massively improved, the one niggle was the exploding gas pipeline which wasnt believable at all.
I was just about to start a thread about Die Hard 4.0, just finished watching it.
Its friggin awesome, could be one of my favorite films ever!
hmmm, I may have to rant about this tomorrow.
QuoteGraphics certainly were massively improved, the one niggle was the exploding gas pipeline which wasnt believable at all.
There are plenty of niggles in all four Die Hard films, but to be honest Id sooner see a massive explosion no matter how implausible it is than something that might actually happen in real life. Its camp comic book style action complete with quips, larger than life characters and witty one liners at its finest.

The thing with that is everything else, including hitting the helicopter with a car, is plausible, even the fire hydrant stunt. Same with the other films although they had nothing on the scale of this. It could have been quite possible to drive a truck loaded with explosives in to destroy the building, although not quite as visually impressive.
State of the art jet fighters need to get within 10 feet of their target before engaging.

Yep, I was going to say if there was ever a gripe to be had about Die Hard 4.0 it would be the F-35B sequence which for all of its faults was still fecking awesome to watch.
can the F-35 hover?
Quote from: DEViANCEcan the F-35 hover?
The B can, yes.
