A few other cosmetic changes were made to the new DS Lite -- theres a new hinge design, the power light was put on the left side of the hinge and is visible while the clamshell is closed, the mic is moved to top/center while the speakers are more centered, the Select and Start buttons are set on the bottom instead of top, and the power button is no longer on the front, and all of the dark button colors are changed to whites and grays. The cute DS logo is also placed on the front. Basic functionality, otherwise, looks to be identical to the original DS.

The official word is that they will be released in white and black here in Europe (no word on ice blue or navy, think they are just for Japan).

My sister-in-law is buying me one :) I think shell want the black, but sexy white for me. Tis good news, means my wife can get my old DS Phat and we can do multi-player :)

I own a first gen DS but Im tempted to get me one of those black DS Lites.
one thing i have noticed about the DS is that my DS, bought in February this year, has a much poorer screen in terms of definition, contrast etc. than my girlfriends DS, bought a couple of months later... it is noticeably better.
anyone else noticed this with their machine?
The lites are ment to have a better & brighter screen than orginal DSs
the lites are shockingly better screen quality, PSP standards. Where as I found the original DSs (going off my mates first gen, imported from japan at first release) quite hard to see indeed.
The lites also have better buttons.
And people feel less ashamed holding them.

Think Ill pick myself up a bargain 1st gen DS from Ebay when these start hitting our shores.
If I was to get a DSLite itd have to be in that yummy enamel navy :D that looks the sex!

I had not seen the black version before this thread. Looks very nice indeed, If i did get one I would be hard pressed to choose between black and white. Both very nice.
Though I do hope it is nothing like the new mac book which apprantly the black verision, unlike the standard white which is a polycarbonate coating that leaves the paint glossy and tough, has apprantly been flaking off according to reports.
Id probaly get the black colour DS and sell my other so I can get the DS lite just for the better screens and look.
Game are offering the DS Lite for Ã,£59.99 if you trade in an original DS.
