I had no idea about this, QFT!
I like the comments on this article - jorno slates the choosing of duran duran:
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/culture/lucyjones/100062859/duran-duran-headline-olympics-gig-this-lineup-could-not-be-worse/
then gets comments like these:
QuoteWho do you think you are you x factor reject. Slight touch of jealousy as all these people are successful and you obviously failed biatch
QuoteWhat a nasty little slag you are! Kate Bush? WTH? You wouldn't know good music if it bit you in the arse!!! D2 are PERFECT for this gig!!!
QuoteLucy, I think you need to go look up "Objective" in the dictionary.
What exactly was the point of this article? Given how young you are, it's excusable -- understandable -- that you might consider Duran outside your immediate demographic. Heck, you even have free will, therefore you're completely within your rights not to like the band. But this piece is nothing more than pollution; an easy bit of stirring up, that does no more than suggest you're trying just a little too hard to get yourself noticed. [...]
I wouldn't mind giving young Lucy an education. In music if need be. :muttley:
I have no time or sympathy for conceited women like her, she'd do my head in after 5 mins of her Telegraph branded elitist claptrap. You couldn't pay me to hang out the back of her (well, you probably could, but I'd like a ballgag please).
Could been a lot worse it could have been Simply Red or Chris De Burgh :P
Some of Duran Duran's stuff still holds up quite well IMO, this is my fav of theirs (NSFW) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESPi5lqmsHU - Ordinary World wasn't bad.
