This is exactly what went wrong with giving attention-defecit console gamers access to FPS shooters that should have remained in the realm of PCs.

one hundred percentay, some of the FPS' nowadays are just plain embarrasing rehashes, showing our age I'm afraid because the 'kids' love it, I guess they never played Duke3d, Shadow Warrior, Half Life 1/2 or counter strike et al.

What really hammered home the change for me in the whole gaming landscape was building the PC I did recently, despite being on the lookout for games and things to push the hardware the only thing I have spent more than 10 minutes on since building it is Civilsation 5.

(I've installed Crysis, Dead Space 2, Sims 3 - just don't use them)

Yes, even the 'realism/stealth' FPS games like Crysis and some of the Tom Clancy installments are no match for the likes of Delta Force or even Project IGI. I can't say there's many games at the moment I could keep coming back to, few games now really excite me. Diablo III had better meet expectations, that's all I am hopeful for.

I can still remember turning the lights off and playing through the first episode of Half Life, it was an experience and set the bar far higher than anything they offer up to the table these days.

If i had the time, the juggernaut known as World of Warcraft gets me excited time after time, there is simply so much to do.
