Ive got a large spreadsheet that I want to change the date field on.
Its currently set as YEAR.MONTH.DAY. and I want it to be DD/MM/YY.
Ive tried going to the data menu, clicking text to columns and messing about in there and that hasnt worked.
Formatting cells hasnt worked either.
Any clues?
Oh yeah, and once thats done... Anyone know how to import the data into an Outlook calendar?
Selecting the cells and doing the Format cells -> date doesnt work?
Is that because of the . between year, month and day?
Seeing as excel accepts year-month-day, maybe do a find and replace to swap the . to - and then see if it will convert the date format to what you want through the cells formatting options?
Excellent. That did the trick.
Have a stack of e-cookies.

Now for the second part....
My excel spreadsheet has the columns....
Status - First Name - Last Name - Street - City - Zip - Country - E-Mail - Phone - Company - Licence Number - Expiry - Product
And I want to get this into my renewals calendar. Preferably the Name, Email, Phone, Expiry and Product so I can keep on top of who runs out when, and I dont fancy entering all 300 manually!
Would have thought you could save the file in excel as a comma separated file (.csv) in the "save as other file type" prompt. In Outlook if you go to the import/export menu and choose the default "import from another program/file" option, there are several options in terms of comma separated or tab delimited files. I guess its just a case of saving in one of the formats and seeing what happens, if it doesnt work, try another?
