mate has a caravan... wifi is included in the plot rent etc...
but some of there access points are down and they're not fixing them....
not sure how far it is to get a signal, he says it's about a 2 min walk...
any idea how good something like this will be ?

(I'm finding out distance/line of sight info)
or any other ideas/tips ?
(I told him pringles tube but he's not interested in that!)
I've never had much luck with extending the range of the receiver before, I've fitted some massive add-on aerials before and it has made little difference.
I've made the transmitter better before with a simple thing I found online called the 'windsurfer', it was template that you print on to card, cover in foil and then fit onto the transmitter aerial and that worked really well.
I think good, high end equipment will help aswell.
kk... I'll let him know....
I didn't have high hopes for it anyway.... shame :-(
(bad mobile signal there too)

I've also tried extended antennas on my router before to little effect...
However the key is focusing the wifi to get range just not massive antennas.
If you need to get signal from point A to point B the your suggestion above would be fine, as it is very focused, but no one else is likely to get a great signal, obviously you could always try using a range extender, that will increase the range.
The TinCantenna is supposed to be good and easy to build. (easier than the yagis)

coll... I'll point him to those...
from what I understand... he;s not just out of range or right on the edge of range... it's totally off range so I wouldn't expect the extenders etc.. to do much good...
and the router it's coming from isn't his... so there's nothing he can do there :-(
