Post by: Brian_A on March 08, 2011, 22:13:19 PM
Hi guys I'm getting my sandybridge tomoz, but my old fan controller won't work with the asus pro.I have read the pro only has 4 headers for fans and I have 7 fans in my 800d so what's best to do,any suggestions be great.

guessing the fans are 3 pin connections then ?

buy some 4pin to 4pin adaptors, and some Y splitters for the 4 pin connections to make sure you have enough molex thingamajigs to plug them into !

if they're too noisy, run them on 5v or 7v :-)

hi m8 yes all 7 are 3 pin, just need a solution as i getting the bits tomorrow and was sat looking at the case and i realised i wont have enought headers to run them all,i have 3 exhaust fans at top i also have a h50 in push/pull and 2 more case fans, one for the hotswop and the other is nr the psu, when i had the maximus rog i didn,t have a problem cos i brought the fan controller that went with it.I don,t mind buying a new fan controller but means i can,t build pc tomorrow unless there is a workaround :)

Leave the side of the case off and run half the fans! You can't actually need that many to function!

But I'd do what Knighty said and get an adapter off your molex connector and run them at 5/7v at full 12v its going to be noisy as buggery!

If you wanted to just get a fan controller at a later date?
