He has gone done it early, seems how the PS3 has been handled has got him to decide to retire

History of the PS3:

For me a machine or the games in the past has either been good or crap, the saturn was crap for example. I think the first cock up from a company on a console was sega and the dreamcast - good little machine but because they messed around came far to late and in the end ended a troubled sega as they were.
Nintendo did not switch to disk soon enough and the n64 was a little late but Nintendo made great games for it and it was still not a bad machine, it hurt them and so did the gamecube but the games kept them going.

Sony have chucked so much money at the PS3 for only themselves to cause their own problems at nearly every stage of its life

I was just reading about it, http://money.cnn.com/2007/04/27/magazines/business2/sony_playstation.biz2/

What the wii is doing is amazing, but I still wouldnt write-off the ps3 this early.

Both the xbox360 and MS the company posted net profits this week, and so did Nintento, both the wii and the company posted net profit
Sony posted a massive loss on the ps3 and the company itself by a whopping % in the console division alone something like 90% I read down from last year

Sony really have to do something to recover their position, somehow I doubt if they will be able to do it easily or quickly. Their every move since announcing the device seems to be aimed at crippling it in the eyes of gamers rather than enhancing it.
