The reason Ive replied like I did Nexus is because for some odd reason you like to pass everything you post as unequivocal fact. I also like how you pretend you have sources at every major developer in the world.

Whilst Metal Gear Solid 4 hasnt been out for a year, its not been announced yet and would take at least 6 months or so to come out from any announcement. Hence the 12 months.

As Deaths Head said, nowadays its about profit. Not about being loyal to any single platform. Any dev is going to stick the best games they have onto as many consoles as possible.

When they were just square they stuck to the most popular console for all of their releases. The PS2 had such a lead there was no need to worry about getting the game out on other platforms. Now its more a East vs West divide it makes sense to put as many games as possible onto as many platforms as possible. Square have never really shown any loyalty at all, just pure economic decisions.

Look on the bright side, as long as there is competition it is going to drive each company to out do the other.  Sony got lazy and now they are having to innovate.  Would the PS3 be the console it is today if it was not for the Xbox360?  The Wii would not be considered competition as it is aimed at an entirely different market.
