LOL at the suicide bit, Again MS take another chunk out of Sony, This one must really hurt, with the possibility of metal gear switching either as a later release or other versions heading MS, Sony seems to have no real exclusives left to fuel its arsenal and its game sales are already not that great, yep they doing better but the games on ps3 are still to few.

Yep. Whats the point in doing a Japanese version for the 3 people that own one in Japan. It does mean that there will be a huge delay between FF XIII japanese release and 360/ps3 US release because they are apparently only starting work on porting to the 360 once ots released in Japan. Sad as it is, the FF games were/are the only reason Id consider buying a playstation. When I won £500 in a draw last year I finally bought a PS2 dirt cheap to play FF10, 10-2, and 12. But now 13 is coming to the 360, sod the PS3 Woohoo!

Final Fantasy 13 on 360 is big news but its not the death knell for Sony at all. I own a 360 and a Wii, no PS3, so please dont tell me Im a fanboy either. For it to be of any real big significance itd have to switch entirely to 360.
The bigger news, which is old, is that alot of the other Squarenix output due is coming out on 360. That shows the shift from Sony to Microsoft more than Final Fantasy.
If the Sony machine is in 3rd place and it offers games like Valkyria Chronicles, White Knight Chronicles, God of War 3 and Gran Turismo Im happy to own all three and the machine will still be a success.
I actually considered buying an xbox instead of a PS3, but I was swayed by the simple fact that I cant stand the xbox controllers. The layout makes my thumbs hurt. Plus the PS3 ones are lighter.

Very poor and lippy attitude here out of the blue for no reason, get out the wrong side of the bed? Show where anyone here as even hinted to you being a fanboy, and who said it was the death of Sony?
It is big news because what it means is less exclusive titles all the time and when you take into account the PS3 while sales are improving still has no where near enough of a game role out base it wil hurt them.

Do you know how much Sony paid to keep it on their consoles and how much and complicated and full of legal stuff for final fantasy games to get on the DS? They were paying A LOT!

Their titles are nothing to sing and dance about at all exclusive wise, both the wii and 360 have a better line up.

There are always going to be exclusives as each company has first party studios which will only develop for their console. 3rd parties are under no obligation to go go exclusive unless they choose to be it just because they dont want to (MGS4?) or someone put up a lot of $$$ to make it exclusive.
Just because you dont like some of those games doesnt mean other people wont. GT has always been a seller of Playstations. White Knight has looked good so far, and has fans of JRPG rather excited. Valkyria games tend to be highly regarded, look at Eurogamers reaction when they were blogging the Sony presentation and they though Valkyria Chronicles was coming to the PSP. God of War is considered to be the best game series of its type still, and they are PS2 games. Heavenly Sword/Conan etc cant touch it.
And the shift, as you put it is more to no one console is going to win this generation but its now very much an open field. I find it very doubtful that either console will pull ahead of the other by any substantial amount. With games costing as much as they do to develop, you would most likely be hung out to dry by your shareholders if you werent multi platform unless there is a f**king huge holden carrot being dangled in front of you...
Look at Haze, its exclusive to the PS3. I dont see anyone caring about that being exclusive as its apparently crap.
The reason Ive replied like I did Nexus is because for some odd reason you like to pass everything you post as unequivocal fact. I also like how you pretend you have sources at every major developer in the world.
Whilst Metal Gear Solid 4 hasnt been out for a year, its not been announced yet and would take at least 6 months or so to come out from any announcement. Hence the 12 months.
As Deaths Head said, nowadays its about profit. Not about being loyal to any single platform. Any dev is going to stick the best games they have onto as many consoles as possible.
When they were just square they stuck to the most popular console for all of their releases. The PS2 had such a lead there was no need to worry about getting the game out on other platforms. Now its more a East vs West divide it makes sense to put as many games as possible onto as many platforms as possible. Square have never really shown any loyalty at all, just pure economic decisions.
Look on the bright side, as long as there is competition it is going to drive each company to out do the other. Sony got lazy and now they are having to innovate. Would the PS3 be the console it is today if it was not for the Xbox360? The Wii would not be considered competition as it is aimed at an entirely different market.
