Post by: Kunal on December 29, 2006, 13:57:33 PM
After months of bargain hunting I finally went for one :)

Premium Pack
Extra Wireless
PGR3
Arcade Live
Gears of War
Pro Evo 6
& VGA cable.

Ã,£329.

And I already have COD3... just aching to get home and hook the thing up and get on Live!

Managed to get off from work early, just unpacking it all now.

I havent got a play & charge kit yet - how long will the Energizer batteries that come with each wireless controller last? (Planning on getting play & charge kit from Play Asia).

Also just noticed something else...

You get a one month trial of Live Gold with the 360, and theres a 1month golf scratch card with the PGR3/extra wireless controller pack! :) Wont need to fork out for that until Feb then.

Its not worth getting a play and charge from play-asia. They are only Ã,£15 RRP here anyway, and HMV have them for Ã,£12.99.

Think I might just go for that.

Just playing with the different video cables;

When I plug the 360 in using the VGA cable I can select 1920x1080 in the display settings.

When I plug the component cable in the max I can select is 1080i, not 1080p (though the option is there). If I select it my monitor throws up a warning saying out of range or something.

Now this baffles me, Im using a Dell 2405FPW which has a maximum resolution of 1920x1200@60Hz. (It has the following inputs: VGA, DVI, Component, Composite, S-Video inputs). Shouldnt I be able to select 1080p over component?

nevermind answered my own quesiton after a bit of googlin;

According to this thread

http://www.futuremark.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27811

"It doesnt accept 1080p over component, its very rare for anything to accept 1080p over component."

VGA/DVI is designed for progressive, so 1920x1080 over the VGA is 1080p.
