PC been working fine, ages now no issues.
Today start PC after shutting down without issue on friday and am greeted by a BSOD, windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
Arghhhhhhhhhhhh
Wont start in safe mode, tried the automatic repair and that reported unable to repair, havent tried a system restore as i may have turned it off and even if i havent i dont know when the last point was created.
Any ideas how to get this booting?
When you say automatic repair, do you mean where you run the installation disk and choose repair Windows installation, so it overwrites all the core files?
Get a Hirens BootCD, there's a system restore utility on it.
how far does it get when it tries to boot ?
there's a good chance it's a hardware problem tbh :(
i bit the bullet and ran system restore (turns out it is on) and selected the newest point, something like 10 days old.
It reported it failed to restore, but booted when i rebooted
Ordered an SSD so will be rebuilding this soon
Make sure you BACK UP ANY IMPORTANT DATA on it ASAP.
Ran a backup as soon as i got logged in :ptu:
