i am looking for a new gaming screen either 22 or 24inch. I am on a budget and rounded my decision down to either a Dell 2208WFP VGA/DVI 22inch or the 24inch Iiyama E2407HDS with VGA/DVI/HDMI.
Which would you choose ? Will be running it on Vista 64Bit with a Geforce 9800GT.

Bought THIS (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/22-Iiyama-E2207WS-B1-Black-Widescreen-LCD1680x10502ms-DVI-D) one yesterday, 1680x1050, 2MS Response, DVI + DSub. Its the best one i could find for the money.
That one is very similar to the 24" that I was looking at. Let me know what you think of the image quality, good price.

You cant go wrong with the Dell panels usually, Id say its worth doing a quick check on the model to see if these 2208WFP panels have any glitches. I have a 2408WFP and its the absolute mutts nuts! Plnety good enough response time for games too.
Monitor arrived, its great but i have a dead pixel, wondering what to do next, will call the company tommorow and tell them, not really happy about the pixel considering my previous screen is 4 years old without a single dead pixel..
Another good reason to go with Dell - Ive had my screen replaced twice for dead pixels - current one has been flawless.
Ive had a large amount of Acer monitors and once again have never suffered with a dead pixel, either when they were first purchased or after many years of use. Ive only ever had one problem with one of them and that was shipped off to Acer and sent back repaired within a week.
Guess Ive been really lucky, never had a single dead pixel at all (/touches wood). I did break a laptop screen by sitting on it though :whoops:
I have previous 4 year old+ monitor still sat here working flawlessly, im simply not happy with the fact i paid that money and i have a dead pixel right out of the box, on top of this i have to pay the return delivery, because im returning under distance sellings regs because its not acceptable as faulty. So uh back to square one, only £10 poorer :P
Im also going to run UD Pixel today, hopefully it will Magically fix it, but i doubt it :P
Sorry to hear about the dead pixel. That happened to me a couple of years back, I had an old 15" LCD which had run perfectly for years, I then bought a brand new Hanns-G 19" and out the box it had one dead pixel. I was annoyed at the time, but didnt bother returning it and got used to it after a while.
I built my new system on wednesday this week, an Quad 6600 with 4GB RAM and Geforce card, just using it on my 32" samsung TV at the moment, but I get paid next week and will be buying either a 22 or 24" screen, still swaying towards the Iiyama 24" which is less than £200 at the moment, but I havent ruled out a Dell 2208Wfp if I can find a good deal on one.
Go for a 24" at least. The higher res is definitely worth it.

Yeh im thinking this, but most of the 24" panels are 5ms response, wondering how much of a difference it will make.
Add to this the 1920x1080 panels are pushing into the stores now, wondering if they will be better in anyway than the standard 1920x1200, are the 1080s newer panels?
I dunno, really Id go for anything that can do more than 1600x right now. Theyve dropped nicely in price and a 26-27" would be a good buy if you watch lots of movies. Id take res over response rate any day.
edit: if you dont *look* you wont *notice* *a* dead pixel by the time its covered in dust and geek-spit.

Not necessarily, the 1080 screens were simply to meet the HDMI standard but either might use newer technology. 1200 gives you a bit more screen so is probably better for computer use, for movies it will either put a black band on the extra lines or stretch to fit.
Apparently this one is good Viewsonic VX2260WM (http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/monitors/2009/01/05/viewsonic-vx2260wm-22in-full-hd-monitor/1), which im sure i pointed out to someone, somewhere :P
I really think that could be the one for me, just wondering how well my 4850 will run at those settings 1920x1080, if not ill be upgrading a 1 month old videocard /facepalm
