Title: GFX Card Advice
Post by: Mardoni on May 26, 2006, 16:10:11 PM
I built a PC for my parents a while ago and bought a cheap ass nVidia AGP gfx card to put in it.

This gfx card had issues with the TFT that it is used with, where the screen sometimes flicks on and off, or even completely borks the picture with corrupt rendering !
I thought I had fixed this issue but alas it has returned so I have decided that the only thing to do is to buy a better card...

Can anyone recommend a decent mid-range AGP card to me please. I dont really want to spend more than Ã,£70. The card (ideally) should be DX9 and have at least 128mb of RAM. Its mainly going to be used for browsing / pictures / video but occasionally my Dad likes to play CS Source !!!

The 6600 is probably the best mid range AGP card and has been a very popular card as you can see here (http://steampowered.com/status/survey.html) for example, the GT especially..  If you can afford it, the 6800GS &/or GT is thoroughly worth it.

However this will fit the bill.....

I might see if the old man will chip in, seeing as it is for him, to get the 6600 GT.

I just pray that its the crap gfx crd giving me problems and not the mobo or Ram or CPU :s
