Title: Goldfrapp - Seventh Tree
Post by: Clock'd 0Ne on January 24, 2008, 00:41:25 AM
Anyone else looking forward to this/excited by it?

It looks like it is going to be much more akin to Felt Mountain than the glam of Supernature, some are saying its gone in a folky direction. I think its going to be awesome either way, you cant beat a bit of Alison. My copy is on pre-order :D

Yeah that seems to be the way with them, you either love them or are indifferent to it. Im sure maximusotter is pleased wherever he is.

If they are the ones that sing about riding on a white horse then no, I hate them. They just go right through me for no apparent reason other than it pushes all the wrong buttons.

Im probably being a bit harsh, I only really know that one song after seeing it played endlessly everywhere you went.

The album that song is from is totally different to the others. You should have a flick through youtube at some of the vids, you might find you like the earlier stuff.

I really like the first three, hate Strict Machine (its as bad as the white horse song), and the rest are sort of so-so. Are their full albums of the more mellow stuff or are they odd songs dotted around?

Edit : The new single is okay as well.

These are all from Black Cherry, which is their second album and a bit more of a mixed bag:

Train
Black cherry
Tiptoe
Hairy trees
Twist
Strict machine

The first album is very soft and mellow, none of the glam.

The album you would not like is Supernature.

This new album could quickly move to become my favourite. Well worth a listen for anyone even remotely interested in them IMO.
