Title: Graphics card options...
Post by: Serious on March 27, 2011, 06:07:05 AM
Not sure to splash out a little on a HD6870 or save dosh and go for a HD5770. Is the 6870 going to give me a really noticeable performance boost?

What are you using atm?

GTX460 is still best bang for buck, and 560ti is flavor of the month.

There should be a really noticeable difference , if this link works you can see for yourself ,http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/290?vs=296 (http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/290?vs=296).
460 is a really good card but slower generally , 560 is slightly faster but is 6950 money in the 1gb flavour.

Bacon, the computer has a very old 7900GTO card, so almost anything modern will beat the pants off it. Unfortunately I'd rather not install a Japanese built nuclear reactor to power the thing...

Main issue is I might have to upgrade the mobo/cpu too. Asustek pile of shi'ite.. ???

Could offer you an obviously safer Russian one?
