Crunching Cancer on & off since 2001/2002 for tekheads, and my final CPU time is 1 year, 53 days with 121825 points. :)
So did they really finish, or run out of money? :?:
In all liklihood theyve probably just achieved their aim, like they say they have. Looking into it as an outsider, Id imagine it was more of a proof-of-concept of a distributed computing model rather than anything directly urgent or beneficial. I would be interested to see just what was done with the results from the processing, as information on that seems to be pretty sparse.
Seems something of a shame to turn it off even if they have achieved their original aim.
Surely it would be possible to utilise the exisitng user base which must have taken a fair amount of time to develop to do some more useful for processing for the good of mankind?

It is probably the fact that actual government and Direct medical areas are using the same approaches and for more direct studies. Sony has done a deal where the ps3 (you wont even notice apparently) will be number crunching for a study for example.
Does anyone know what position team tekheads finished in? Im curious, but it seem like theyve shut down all the stats too. :?
