2 x 1GB chips ideal. Perhaps you have some spare? alternatively, want to spend as little as possible as I want to upgrade in 6 months. Any recommendations on cheap place to buy?

cheapest we do, DDR1 pricing has never been as low as DDR2
dont think you will any much cheaper unless you get second hand stuff
