Title: How to stream a video/webcam on a website
Post by: Coded on April 17, 2009, 20:12:18 PM
Wondering if anyone could help me out.

My father has a birdnest cam which currently feeds into the computer.

What my mother would like to do is stream this over the internet to whoever would like to see it. My father has the hardware in order to get the cam onto the computer as he can use the same hardware he uses for his camcorder.

I was just wondering what steps i need to do this. Which software etc. I know id have to constantly have the computer on, but thats not a problem. But im not sure if its possible using a streaming media server?

thanks in advance

Is easy, you can download all sorts of programs to do it. You make a webpage that displays a picture and auto-refreshes every x seconds. Use an FTP client to upload a new snap from the webcam every x seconds and roberts your mothers brother.
