Think Frontier : Elite, but online....coming 2007. :D
Amazing video! (http://files.moddb.com/1422/)
^Bump.^
Maybe I didnt make this clear in my original post, but Ive played EVE-Online (http://www.eve-online.com/), and I can say that if this game gets enough media exposure when it launches...it will outright
destroy it.
The idea blends everything you ever loved (the best aspects) about the Elite games, BC300AD (http://dreamcatchergames.com/dci/battlecruiser_millennium/index.html), Freespace, Homeworld, Eve Online, Orbiter (http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/orbit.html), Starlanc..(I could go on)...And so many others.
QuoteWill it be possible to land on planets ?
Yes, this is actually one of the main interests of the game. Expect a lot of missions on planets.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How is the transition between space and ground level done ?
It is completely seamless, with no loading times - actually, what you see from space is really what you see when you land. This is one of the key technologies behind the game engine.
Its got so much promise. (You can own whole planets? OMGWTFBBQ?)
So excited...please dont let this one flop like so many other grand visions.
I looked at this and got excited for a little bit. Then I realised that every MMO Ive ever anticipated and joined at launch have ended in sadness and me quitting it within a short period of time.
This will be one to quietly watch and see what it comes to I reckon. Its gotta do a lot to overcome eve, the PVP and risk vs reward systems is exactly why Im still in eve after 6 months compared to most new MMOs. Kali is coming to eve very soon and im beginning to get excited about that.
The problem i had with eve was that i couldnt do anything when i got new stuff, for fear i lost it and ended up back at the start again. the higher you got the more you couldnt afford to risk actually doing stuff in the game, got boring so i quit
