Nope!  Unless you buy it from Itunes.

More fool you thinking it was actually a phone, other than a piece of crap.

Windows Mobile FTW!

yeah of course you can.  Mine plays Funeral for a friend at the moment but then again its unlocked.

Didnt apple remove the ringtone limit the other week anyway?

The SDKs released in a couple of weeks anyway so the answer then is yesm you can do whatever you like

Do you have to go flashing your back off to everyone?

Not suitable for these forums either IMO.

Cant you just edit the song in iTunes (start/end time), export it and then just drag it into ringtones?

cba to go try now but used to  work fine.  Apple left it wide open since they were made to limit the music as ringtones by the record companies who supply itunes.  Expect other phones with media company ties to go the same way soon.  Sony Ericcson being the first that springs to mind.

Unlocked phones you can do as you please of course.

steve is right, there is a few ways currently you can basically bypass the pay for ringtone feature on the iphone without unlocking. Just google they are quite straight forward
