I suspect a lot of users won't upgrade to iOS6 until google release an approved mapping app for it.  The break away from Google is more than just the Android battle, it's the idea of being dependant on someone else.  Which is odd because all they have done is turned to tomtom and branded it as their own.

TomTom are amusingly washing their hands saying they just supply the mapping data.

Not to fussed over the maps as I have a proper turn by turn app that is great already and rarely use the main mapping. Will defo download the google one.
Telling that the youtube app for iphone is the most downloaded. What is dam annoying though is now watching youtube stuff on ipad is now broken, no ipad app, no true full screen etc. VERY ANNOYING, and google did not release an app for it.

Plus side phone wise though is the new youtube app is actually a lot better.

They also pushed me to finally full time use chrome for ipad (which is awesome) as well and as a user Apple really now need to have default options in settings so I can chose my mail client, browser, video player etc. They would find most people set them to 3rd party ones.

Leon, those are absolutely priceless! I just fell off my chair.

Isn't this entirely defeating the point of having an iPhone?  The phone hardware is nothing special as we know, people go on about the apple 'experience' because of the OS and apps, seems like its clear shiny toy syndrome buying one just to start using all the software you would use on any other phone.

YouTube native app was removed as they didn't want to manage it anymore, they basically gave the app development back to google thats why it's now a downloadable app from the store.

Google has also said they are working on a gmaps app for iOS but I haven't seen anything about an ETA.

For those of you on iPads and have ios6 I highly recommend the Jasmine app for YouTube at least until YouTube make one available. It's better than the apple one was.

Loss of google maps isn't too bad (i like the roadworks stuff i can see) but most annoying thing from my standpoint is the lack of street view! I often fired that up to read things like the parking restriction signs outside where I'm going and stuff.

Apple shop apps tend to be more polished. Less dross to filter through, android is getting better though.

That said the default mail client is pissing annoyingly crap! I'm with nexus on that one.

I am pleased with most OVI apps but I have nothing to compare with :D
