Title: Jean Luc Ponty
Post by: Walrusbonzo on April 22, 2007, 00:22:06 AM
I acquired Jen Luc Pontys anthology album as I was really curious to hear some solo fiddle work from someone who worked on one of my favourite albums of all time...... Hot Rats.

Absolutely brilliant in places.  Some fantastic jazz/prog rock/classical music, has blown me away at times.

Yeah, hes french, so what?

I urge anyone who likes some prog rock/ambient rock type stuff from days gone to at least have a listen to the track "Taste of Passion", its had me hooked ever since I first heard it.  Not a day goes by at the moment without me at least putting that one track on!

"Once On A Blue Planet"
"Question With No Answer"

and

"Bowing Bowing"

are 3 of my other favourites so far.

There are some quite heavy classical elements here, lots of piano and obviously lots of fiddle/violin.

Used listen to him mustve been 30+ years ago, himself and playing with Frank Zappa. Might be nice to refresh a bit.
