Title: Just did a bit of impulse buying & got a Samsung SM225BW for £180
Post by: Dave on October 17, 2007, 23:41:40 PM
Got myself a very nice dell TFT at work and decided today that I could do with something similar at home - though then I looked up the cost of getting dell and opted for a cheaper option

ebuyer were doing the Samsung SM225BW for £180 so I just went ahead and got one - reckon it was an OK deal as most other places still flog them for over 200

How would you say it compares to the Dell then.

I hear the latest Dell models have ghosting problems that are irreperable (only on the new HighContrast lines)

Not got the samsung yet - it arrived at my home (billing) address due to it being my first e-buyer order - need to wait till my mum brings it down to London for me next week - the reviews for it seemed to be very positive though.

Till now Ive not bothered investing in a TFT - my trusty old IIyama has done well over the years - when I was trading I had 4* 19" TFTs on my desk and tbh.. they werent that great (HPs IIRC). At my current firm Ive just got the laptop + nice big Dell TFT to plug it into - that screen did impress me (though it isnt like Ive watched any films/played games on it - just used for office/work stuff) - inspired me to get one for use at home especially as I intend to do a lot of coding for a little project Ive got going on in my spare time.

SDP - cheers for the tip - will dl when it arrives

Samsung are defiantly king of lcds at the moment and what they have in line and on the way in the future is like OMG

Samsung have just done true hd laptop screens which will be in laptops in the near future I mean bloody hell

I cant rate Samsung highly enough, we use them for you 19" squares at work, and a few users have the 20" wides. I got myself the 20" wide last christmas for £190, so I guess your 22" wide is a good deal at £180.

Nice things about Samsung they have uniform brightness and colour distribution that surpases nearly all other makes, and the difference in picture quality isnt obvious until you get models that are silly prices above the samsung.

While I been reading samsung stuff a lot but other too it still amazes me how they are going on about how bigger is actually a bit cheaper and they can get better performance out of them with the use of LEDs etc when in the past bigger screens looked to stretched and poor in the light department

Still amazes me the Americans are still into their projection tvs
