Just had the Touch demod to me by a mate and had a quick play. Have to admit Im very impressed. Sleek, quick and great video quality.

Not sure if I could live with less than 32Gb though.

They run of flash rather then a hardrive now in the new ones so it is limited to how they are

Should have included SDHC support and just create some slots that can store SD cards down the side of it or something.

The only true rival there was to the iPod was the iRiver, I dont know how recent models compare these days though.

I still cant find myself taken in by all the hype of Apple products though. Maybe Im not cool enough

Quote from: soopahflyMy gen3 has proven its ruggedness, its gotten wet, used and abused, Been blustered about on a motorbike at 100mph+, something my archos continually cried about, its also been dropped and bounced around in the hard sporting suspension. id have another in a heartbeat.

Ditto

Im having to change it now simply becuase its finally on its way out after 3 years.  It over heats, the battery is terrible (now) and most importantly......I cant fit enough music on it. :D

Ipod Classic here I come.

Impressive product that archos.

But when it comes to being a music player it is still hardly first choice now lets face it.  Hardly intuitive or in your pocket.

They have dozens of other products - some are music only, some music & video, some are media servers, pmas etc etc

Their smallest of the last generation (Gen 4, current is gen 5) of music & video players is 2.5 inches square, with a 1.8 screen, and its 20GB.

Some of the portable video players are around the same size as the biggest ipod.

They were the best in their day - nothing else did recording straight to mp3.
Getting on for 7 years old now that one

soopahfly

looks a bit posher than my old one
