I loved this game, it had some annoyances but for me it was a 5/5 and I played a bit in the evenings after work since its release.
I think I will just list my annoyances and then bits I thought were really cool since the annoying bits were way shorter then the posititives.
- Scanning for planets:
Way better then the annoying travel over every planet, driving around the same old same old over and over again but still not there.
You get an upgrade to your scanner to speed it up but it does not make a difference at all, it is still very slow. I found a method of jump scanning around a planet to speed things up but it was still very annoying.
I also noted the vibration when you find something while being very cool ate away at your battery on the controller.
I liked the way it worked, but considering the planets and what you need, it was just far to annoying. You feel the need to mine when you can because a system has a % value to show what you done and you want to see 100% all the time before leaving somewhere and you know those resources allow you to unlock and train things. With expansions planned you want to get this stuff.
It was all to slow and tedious though not to long after you did a few planets. In ME3 there needs to be a planet wide scan that overlays a sort of heatmap for the pockets good resource. You can then fine tune scan near the hot spots and get your resources and choose to get the medium or low level ones if you think you not got enough resources.
- Fish:
An odd one this and a minor issue but man fish do not last very long. I fed my fish but if you decide to do a bit of the story arc or a couple of big missions and chat to a few people and go to to your cabin - Fish dead. I mean come on!!! LOL.
In a time you can go faster then light and have shields and clones I think My fish tank can auto dispense food now and again!
Love:
You get it on with your girl or guy in ME1 for them to basically brush you off in 2, You should have been able to carry on your relationship if you chose too, makes the first one seem pointless.
Crew and the Normandy:
I love the new Normandy, bigger, makes more sense but still has issues.
When you go to cities and planets and people are in the same place it is not to much bother but since you go around the Normandy a lot for people to be in the same place ALL the time is a bit annoying.
EVERYONE needs to move around all the time. The map should then have dots to find out where people are if you need to talk to them. And if someone wants to talk to me then meet me in the cabin or by the galaxy map. I get pissed off if I have to come to you. I AM THE COMMANDER GOD DAM IT!
These and some other niggles are only minor and hopefully sorted in number 3 and compared to the rest of the game nothing of nothing really.
Space Travel Fuel: Not sure about this, bothered me a little but not to bad.
I wish there was some space combat. I just upgraded my cool ship with some serious shizzle, I would love to take control and bow some sh*t up!
GOOD STUFF:
I loved the level where you are Joker. When he was saying "ooooh shooiiiiit" it made me laugh.
Combat was loads better and I loved the Biotics.
Graphics are great and the overal game great.
The story was very good and I got into it more and more as I went along.
The secondary Loyalty stories for the most part felt good and I enjoyed doing them.
The end level and the very God OF War end was really cool.
I thought the end mission was very clever. You took everyone with you and got to choose people for the mission. When I first got asked to pick people my instant thought were that these people would die. I chose Jacob despite being told to choose an engineer for example as I thought they would die.
Sure enough he got smoked! But Miranda Did not. I had read some players had got loads of the team dead. It got me thinking though - What if like the rest of the game you got a dice role. You pick someone for a role and the moment of importance they live or die!
I was right, Jacob died because he took to long to close the door. He did not have the skills!
Miranda lead the team well so she lived and so did they.
When I chose Garras to lead the other team group he got shot but his armour held up to it.
I chose jack to hold up the shield because despite not offering to do it I thought she was the stronger Biotic. I was right, toward the end she got week but did a big blast to get us through! I think If I chose Miranda for example she would not do so well and die.
I thought all this was very cool, and weather you did enough upgrading and training mattered at the end!
5/5 though, very good game!
i had 2 people die, i had garrus die because i missed an upgrade on the ship, and then subject zero died cause she wasnt loyal, rest lived
bad points are the inventory system is non existant, and there arent enough guns

If your not a soldier you do not get as many guns. This was a deliberate change to get that class played more. As a whole people did not like the old system and I liked the upgrade method better. they just needed to change the look of the weapons when you upgraded so you notice the difference. Just like the armour.
I had every loyal etc, did all upgrades and that before I went into the last mission.

You need to become better friends with
Yeoman Kelly, shell offer to feed your Fish for you whilst youre away from the ship. :)
*ignores the above*
If anyone in the UK has finished it and is thinking of shelving their ME2 for the 360 for a while, fancy a swap/loan or selling it on to a forum member?
Agree with some of these points having just finished it. The fuel issue was slightly bothersome, and the lack of attention from the first games love interest was just stupid. The main story seemed really really short and it felt like 90% of the game was the side quests. Also felt there was a lot of loose ends - nothing really happened with Captain Anderson, Liara, etc.. and it never was explained why that Geth had my armour on! Basically just loads of little things like that.
The graphics and the wow moments were stunning though - the gravity free walking around the Normandy in pieces at the start was breath taking.
Not sure how I feel about the RPG to shooter ratio. I enjoyed the extra action although the cover system could be absolutely useless at times (come on admit it how many times mid fight would they stand up when you didnt want them to or not duck when you did!?). I did miss some of the RPG elements too - the upgrading of armour and weapons was massively watered down from ME1 and that was a shame.
I was sad to see what theyd reduced the Citadel too as well - had been looking forward to seeing what had been done with the rebuild but in the end we could only see a tiny fraction of it and it was unrecognisable for the most part. Some of the locations were awesome like Illum and Omega but I didnt think we had enough to do in them - compared to their size and detail I thought there was a lot more mileage to be had out of them.
Whinging aside though on the whole it was an awesome game again and Ill definitely start play through two in a week or two. :)
how sh*tty and cliched was the end boss? i was thoroughly dissapointed with that

There are very little actual side quests really, I think you mistaking branches of the main story as side quests. All the loyalty quest lines are important and part of the story. The are side quests that also tie into the main story, the more you do the more you learn about things and the easier the end is.
The Geth Wearing your armour was fully explained to me, so I think you either skipped or did not talk enough to the geth.

They have more or less come up with a new format blending to main game types into one so it is something to get used to. Your right though, some elements needed to come back in but they can build on this platform now for number 3. That should be epic. (3 discs has been joked by Bioware in interviews)

People did not want to see the Citadel as much which was the feedback so the listened, I kind of agree with you but you pretty much covered that place many times over, I think it may have been boring to go through it some more yet again?

Nothing wrong with moaning about some aspects of the game but they are nothing major which is the good thing. The things people have moaned about are actually rather minor to the game and things easily built on for 3.
Cant wait.
Any way you can get to shag Miranda and Kelly? Im a brunette man through and through but I needs me fish fed!
Having my fish die was the worst thing thats ever happened to me in a game. Seriously, I was really pissed! LOL
