Woot! :D

This isnt being developed by Remedy though, is it? Theyre too busy with Alan Wake.

Its being done by Rockstar Vancouver instead.

Majorly impressed by this, took a while to get going but fantastic so far.

Also the engine is phenomenal to look this good, and run this smoothly on 7 year old 360 hardware is plain crazy

Still going, this single player campaign is in depth and meaty :ptu:

Though on hard it's irritating at times, I swear if Max even hears a gunshot he dies from stress related trauma.

Engine will be 1 revision behind the new GTA, New GTA one will be even better. Wondering if they actually holding off for the new consoles on that one.
I swear and hope MS lied when they said no new console at E3 as they wont have anything for the event if they dont. New GTA as a launch title for the new console - would be sweeet!

Totally agree, I hope the next GTA is indeed geared towards meatier hardware, with that said though I thought the 360 was well past its sell by date but somehow they made Payne look fabulous, a swansong for the current gen perhaps as I'm not sure something as open ended as GTA would fare anywhere near as well.

I just crave new console hardware I guess, but not the new nintyshizebox

How does the game respond on pad? I can imagine bullet time has either been made extremely easy or judging by your previous post you have to be a controller dexterity ninja to play it anywhere remotely as well as on PC?

My mate has it on pre-order, I'm scheduling in a weekend of beers and Max Payne 3 playthrough with him :ptu:

I play it with no aim assists as you would expect, it's not 'hard' but it's not quite as good as I'd imagine with a mouse, entirely playable though

Hopefully because they are doing it properly and not churning out yet another dodgy console port.

Picked up the Xbox version today.  Not enough Black and White sequences so far.  I thought this was supposed to still be Noir?

I read a review about all the split screen bits being "Ooh I went to film school" but it's just showing it's graphic novel roots.

Is there more to this game than a 5 minute cutscene after every 2 minutes of gaming?
Its a bit la noir at the moment.

Just got back from Tesco, Xbox copy hand....

I completed Max Payne before it was released as my mate worked in GAME and got it really early.

I completed Max Payne 2 before it was released because I worked for GAMESTATION and got it really early.

After 9 years I've finally got my hands on Max Payne 3 (had to wait for release this time!) and I'm sitting here looking at it because the wife is watching bloody Alcatraz!!! Man times have changed...

So long as the xbox version has an option for unlimited bullet time I'd be happy.

"The PC version of Max Payne 3, which raised a few eyebrows with its 35 GB minimum storage requirement, will ship on four DVDs, the game's Indian distributor E-Xpress Interactive has confirmed."

35GB? That's an insane amount! Half of one of my SSDs in one fell swoop in fact  :wtf: It's getting to the stage where its 3/4 games per SSD and I can't see why in all honesty, graphics and game size haven't grown that much have they?

If it really is that size, could be a next gen GFX curtain raiser, who knows 8)

Max Payne 3 PC System Specifications

Operating System:
Windows 7 32/64 Service Pack 1, Windows Vista 32/64 Service Pack 2, Windows XP 32/64 Service Pack 3
Processor:
Intel Dual Core 2.4 GHZ -  i7 3930K 6 Core  x 3.06 GHZ / AMD Dual Core 2.6 GHZ - FX8150 8 Core x 3.6 GHZ
RAM:
2GB - 16GB
Video Card:
NVIDIA® 8600 GT 512MB VRAM – NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 680 2GB VRAM / Radeon HD 3400 512MB VRAM - Radeon HD 7970 3GB VRAM
HDD Space:
35 GB

And people told me you don't need 32GB, it won't be long at all before it's recommended for games. I think you're right about it being a next gen curtain raiser

35gb?! Thats f**king nuts!

The console version is on a single DVD right? Are they just not compressing any textures in the game just for sh*ts and giggles? Would explain why they  are releasing PC a few weeks after console.

Two disks for the 360. If its 35gb then you're going to be able to enjoy Max's awful Hawaiian shirt in all its eye popping glory.

No such thing!

I'm really looking forward to it on PC now, rockstar really did wonders on the console release IMO.

A few days ago I installed Aion online - the folder is 34.4GB excluding the loader.

With high resolution bitmaps, video and sound recordings. it's quite easy to push up the size of a game massively.

That is precisely the reason I chose a 240GB disk instead of a 120, and I can use a pair to give a 480GB raid system if I need it.

I'm wondering when games will exceed 1TB in size.

You don't need 32GB, running at the so called recommend high specs is purely going to be a tech demo like Crysis and look how that turned out, everyone knows the games that sell the most cough*WOW use lower end graphics that cover a wide spectrum of hardware support to cater for everyone.

Diablo 3 is in the same vein and while I think it looks good, it's hardly phenomenal - they could have made it look better but chose not to - if you turn the settings from high to low you lose a tiny bit of texture complexity and some shadows, thats about it. So really, just because a game can run with higher graphics settings doesn't mean you have to make it so it can only do so. You can't really compare Blizzard's MO in that respect because if every games company followed Blizzard we would have very little tech progression (or we'd end up with a series of DNF type failures). The next gen of games could and should blow us away like the first time people saw the new Doom tech demo, its people like Carmack pushing the envelope that get the next engines out and sell a lot more than just one game off the back of it, or Valve's HL2 engine, Unreal engine, etc. Whispers about what the next few years of GPU hardware is going to be capable of and what they are putting into consoles should be a good indicator of this being no false statement. Someone has to make an incredible game engine in the first place. The casual gamers want these sort of games more than the invested gamers that play WoW and the like religiously.

Yes, it's just a TAD better looking than the 360...

As you can see from the specs list, we've worked hard to make sure the game will run smoothly on a wide range of PC builds. But it's when you get towards the top end of that range that you can really push a game to its limits, and the game will look and run incredibly on the most advanced current machines around at the moment and well into the near future.

You'll find that screen resolution is scalable, there's triple and even sextuple monitor support which helps to run higher screen resolutions, there's various anti-aliasing options, scalable water quality, scalable shadow quality, increased detail for characters and vehicles and a scalable texture filter that further increases visual quality. We're also supporting DX11 with Max Payne 3, with features including Hull/Tessellation/Domain Shaders (which adds curvature to the character/vehicle models), Gather4 (for optimized shadow sampling / FXAA), Geometry shader / Stream Output and DX11 texture samplers to name a few.

As you can tell, there's a lot for PC fans with higher-spec hardware to sink their teeth in to.

Check out our updated range of minimum to maximum tested system specs here and at www.rockstargames.com/maxpayne3/pc:

LOWEST TESTED SPECS

HIGH RECOMMENDED SPECS
