I didn't know this was coming until yesterday!!! I LOVED the original HL1 Mod, played it to death 'back in the day'.

Its what AVP multiplayer should of been, aliens v marines. Lovely mix of FPS & RPG where commander takes control (with own overview interface) and guides the grunts to objectives, decides on which things to build and research to help the team. Playing as aliens was lots of bastard stealth killing until you can evolve into something big and mean



Obviously now its not a Mod. They have built their own engine which looks pretty damn good.

It is looking like it'll be pretty good fun.

Yeah I never played the original although I remember seeing it, it does look like good fun, is it going retail or free to play?

My guess is it will be retail via steam. Prob around the $15 mark as its purely a online shooter with no singleplayer but there has been no confirmation.

A look at the marine commander, very cool RTS interface but man some games will be VERY angry with a poor commander

From what I saw in the first video though it seems like you can switch roles throughout the game, so if a commander is doing a crap job you should be able to have someone take over for him?

Ofc, long as they have a vote system which works well... BF 2142 was horrible in that respect, commander had so much control but if you had a bad one it was a right bitch to get enough votes to kick on a 64 player server
