Title: Mickey Rourke
Post by: Privateer on January 09, 2009, 12:31:52 PM
I love his films, the Wrestler is now Number 61 on IMDB, Hes a had sh*t loads of plastic surgery, I hope his new wealth wont be wasted on PS, hes very buff, in Double team as Stavros he had a body to die for.

I watched the Wrestler last night its worth being at 61.

Hes set to be the Crimson Dynamo in Iron Man 2. Masterpiece of casting in my opinion.

Tbh, if i look through films and see his name i tend to ignore them, i dont think he is a great actor, and now i wonder which parts of him are still real, he looks like an action man.

I thought he was absolutely stunning in Sin City, really the highlight of an excellent film. Ive not seen the Wrestler yet but I understand its a cracking piece of cinema.

Mickey deserved his bafta, the Wrestler is great, Mickey is well known to react and do things his way, his Bafta speech had 2 F Words in it,

his bafta speech was funny but Oscars wont risk Mickey swearing they will give it too Sean Penn for his effort in Milk.

To be fair there are probably a lot of actors who arent in the top 100.

As for his films, I too arent a big fan but I wouldnt go as far as to avoid anything that hes in. I just cant believe what hes done to himself though. If you look back to 9 1/2 weeks to now....hes giving Jackie Stallone a run for her money!

A fine idea for a new topic, Plastic War: Mickey vs Jackie If the bionic man was plastic...!

Resurrecting this thread, I just saw The Wrestler tonight for the first time (I like most of Mickey Rourke's film roles) and I have to say this and Sin City are his best performances of his career, fantastic film. He truly embodied both roles, few could have filled the boots needed for either.

Saw it was on Film4 last night I haven't seen the wresetler but its on my to watch list so will do at some point heard its good, he was great in Sin City as well.  Looking at IMDB his career seems to have taken off again since the Wrestler so hopefully there's more good films to come from him.

I think that was the point, at least thats what was being talked about during the release of The Wrestler, the whole relaunching a bad career.

I would also like to add that i since gave in and watched The Wrestler and tbh it was a good movie, so thats 2 films that he has been good in and not forgetting Iron Man 2 i suppose so thats 3, they say wine gets finer with age, the same obviously applies to his acting.
