Title: mirror front and rear sound on soundcard?
Post by: dawlton on January 20, 2007, 19:41:41 PM
Hi,

i was wondering if it was possible to mirror the sound coming out of the front speaker jack to have the same sound come out of the rear jack.

The card is a creative SB Live!, about 4/5 years old, and i am running the standard drivers that windows xp installed for me.

I could just buy a 3.5" stereo y-splitter but was wondering if there was a program that did this for me, and that could also change the levels of the front and rear sound.

When i turn on quadraphonic speakers (speaker settings in control panel), the rear sound doesnt output some sounds e.g. system sounds.

I guess i could try installing the creative drivers, but was curious if there was another way.

Cheers,

dawlton.

Yes it should be possible, my SBLive! does it using the CSS setting.

Try downloading the latest drivers for you card. My card supports 5.1 but I have a 7.1 speaker system. The speakers already split the rear 2 channels across the 4 speakers so that when CSS is on I get stereo out of 3 speakers on the left and 3 on right :)

For those of us without a Creative card, is there any software that would do the same?

I guess having the proper drivers installed for it makes sense. Thought there may have been an alternative. Cheers.

If youve got a 5.1 card then check all the little enviroment settings. My onboard card (cannot remember chipset) had a similar option that mirrored stereo from the front to the back.

if your soundcard has setting to set an output to headphones, try that.

was over at a mates and it does this on his realtek thing, mirrors the front two channels out to the jack set as headphones.
