Okay some of you may remember the Nokia 8310. The tiny fits in your pocket, acts like a phone, looked lush.
What the heck is out there right now that is like that?
I am looking for the following.
- Support for email (exchange servers preferably, at the bare minimum, pop3/imap over ssl)
- Camera? needs to be decent enough to take the odd shot in a nightclub/pub/bar, or when you dont usually take a camera out but want some shots for the craic, im not asking for incredible quality. Failing that happy with no camera providing it can accept MMS messages from friends.
- Some sort of calendar, if it supports syncing with outlook fantastic, if not well its gonna become a ballache.
Think thats it for musts for the phone.
I am thinking of paring down what I have, I tried the whole "make everything fit in one device" and to be honest its crap in comparison. You end up with what is really a big chunky device thats a jack of all trades, master of none.
Ideally Id like to buy a creative zen for video and music playback, this tiny phone (has to be around the same size as a nokia 8310) for my phone and snapshot needs.
It means im not carrying my entire life around with me everywhere I go.
im in the same boat at the moment, im looking into this type fo stuff at the moment. Ill pass on what i dig up, and ill be keeping an eye on this thread to see what other people suggest :D
I do not know all the features on it but the Nokia 6500 classic is a nice slim looking phone
The camera it has if I remember rightly is only 2mega pixels but has 4 times optical zoom and flash which makes up for the pixels in a big way for phone pics tbh.
Seems a nice phone
my Sony Ericsson S500i is great.
Looks sweet and does all the above,

I was thinking about that the other day. The 8310 was awesome - I went through four of them in a year :)
That Sony looks pretty smart.
my Sony w810i has served me well. Not sure about e-mail because Ive never taken it online, but its calendar syncs to outlook and its camera (2mp auto focus, no zoom) is good enough for the odd "ha ha look what you did last night" shot.
The walkman function works pretty well too, and you can turn it on independant of the phone circuitry in case you want to listen to music while keeping the phone off.
I notice on carphone warehouse they have a few clearance deals. W810 for £65 and (imo) far superior W800 for £95 (they clearly agree).
Isnt this quite small ? a bit smaller than 8310 but thicker.
