MP3 encoding software

Any recommendations?

Im using the lame plugin for winamp to reencode at a variable bitrate, it works fine but it knackers winamp and puts cpu usage at 100%
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

I still use and love CDex the times when I use XP for encoding.

mp3 encoder is now on a 30 day trial but I have an older freeware version if you want it.

Rocks, IMO. :)

I still use CDex too.

All encoders will max out CPUs unless they have throttling built-in. Its a pure processor intensive task, so the more it uses the quicker it gets done.
It's all fun and games until a 200' robot dinosaur shows up and trashes Neo-Tokyo… Again.

Make sure you have the latest LAME using --vbr-new, its better and faster.

As you are re-encoding/transcoding you might not see any CPU performance improvement though.

If you are ripping straight from CD and I had that wrong, get Exact Audio Copy and use LAME again.

Anyone suggest software that does the reverse?

Convert MP3 to WAV - To let me create a standard Audio CD

Cheers

lol :D as you found nero does it anyway.

However winamp has a specific plug in for it (switch output to "diskwriter") and itll write a wav file for every track in its playlist. Damn fast too... so in case you just want the wavs just use that :)
