Title: Mp3 orginisation tools
Post by: Alien8 on March 02, 2007, 22:52:34 PM
not sure if this this should be in software but it kinda fits here to ;)

does any one know of a program that will scan the ID3 tags of a dir of MP3s, then create a dir based on the artist/album tag, then move the files to the correct dir ?

preferably freeware/ shareware ;)

thanks in advance

Im with you - Id rather do it all by hand than use Itunes. Dirty nasty little program. Its the curse and plague of my g/fs laptop.

Indeed, does exactly what you are asking.

Last I used Itunes, it behaved like a little Emperor, insisting on being the only software to touch the music folder. Under Ubuntu, I use Rhythmbox, which quietly scans the music folder for any changes. It doesnt move stuff, I do. makes more sense. Each artist gets a directory and their albums go in there. I cant see a program making that easier. Now, for fixing tags en masse, Easytag (http://easytag.sourceforge.net/) is the business.
