Title: Music festivals 2008
Post by: Pete on January 29, 2008, 17:49:35 PM
Anyone thinking about the summer yet? Ive had a few years since doing a big event so Im doing one more before I get old. Looking at Gatecrasher, cos its in the same place again and its a 2 day event, which I havent done before.

Global Gathering is looking good too but its the wrong month and a bit too far away for me.

So anyway, what are you lot planning?

Wacken as always. (http://www.wacken.com/)

My brother and his girlfriend are trying to drag me to Metal Camp but I think Ill give it a miss. Probably going to hit Bloodstock as well (http://www.bloodstock.uk.com) although it does seem to have started a steady decline in quality recently.

Same as me.

You should definitely go to Metal Camp. Ive been the past two years and its awesome. Cheap beer, great location, beach bar(!), great weather... oh, and bands.

Pics from last year (Metal Camp starts about a third of the way down the page - the rest are from the few days we spent in Ljubljana).

music festivals - 10s of thousands of stinking, filthy students and pikey bastards.

even more filthy tennis shoes with jeans that are too long and ripped at the bottom than you would see at the average university - oh - and those stupid f**king hats with the bobbles on them.

Best festival Ive ever been to (2006 I went) and really want to go again... Nice thing was that flights to Hungary, 3 days in Hungary & Train to Novi Sad Serbia, Festival Ticket, Camping ticket and Train back after the 6 day festival cost the grand total of... £140!

Apart from planning to go there again I wouldnt mind going to Download and Reading again.

Never been to a festival that kicks out on the last day, all will want you gone around noon the day after.

To be honest I must admit Im not that enthused about Maiden, Id sooner see Saxon or Doro or Blind Guardian or one of the usual headliners again. Im really looking forward to seeing At The Gates and Primordial, and itll be good to see Corvus Corax and Children of Bodom again.

English Festivals are sh*t. Weather sucks and entry price/beer price is way OTT.

This year Im gonna do:

SeeMe (5-7th/06/08 )
Exit (10-13th/07/08 )
Pukkelpop (14-16th/08/08 )
and
ADE (23-25th/10/08 )

I did Exit 06 and said Id only return under Press Accreditation because it was so stupidly busy, Press Accreditation is all sorted so Im there this year. The others I have been invited to as Press with only flights and accomodation to find. Brucey.

Next year I shall do WMC! Its a bit like Waynes World, in that sooner or later she will be mine :)

Still trying to find the line-up for Earthshaker but I cant find any info for 2008, I heard Manowar might be playing so Im keen to confirm that as Im definitely going if they are, when they played Earthshaker in 2005 it was the best gig/concert Ive ever seen.
