Hi All
Ive been working on my own World Cup song with the help from friends. I had an idea to do a departmental charity song, so hopefully Ill get more people involved to redo the vocals which are currently rubbish. Itll make a big difference on the "Were England" parts. Lyrics need a little tweaking, but generally I think the song is quite upbeat and cheesy :D
Let me know what you think?

Cheers
Very cheesy indeed, The "were England" gets a bit repetitive tbh.
Though this is my idea of a "World Cup Song"

i dont think its that bad, heard alot worse from "professional" musicians.

Rofl :) im welsh and I find that an amusing song :D
Its about as thrilling as mashed potatoes. I need a nap now. Nationalism sucks balls.

LOL
Well I love my country :D

No it doesnt, theres nothing wrong with people displaying a bit of national pride, cheering on their team in the biggest sporting event in the world.
Being patriotic/nationalistic, is good - when England won the rugby world cup, the country went nuts, participating in the game and having enthusiam for sport.
Nationalism is bad when its used to fuel the fire of facists and other crocks.
Political correctness gone mad.... again.
England is world famous for its violent "patriotic" fans, I aint being PC.
I live 5 minutes from our own American football coluseum, so I experience sports fans more than most, and let me tell you what: they suck balls.
Will I watch the cup? Hell yeah, I love football, and Ill be getting it in hi-def, Im just over cheering for any team. Its meaningless.
You would be talking about Football Hooligans.
Yes we seem to have a lot of them, and yes they are violent idiots.
But there is nothing wrong with someone sitting in an armchair cheering on his home team whilst drinking a can of beer with a few mates.
Nor is there in getting dressed up and going to the game, nor is there in going down the pub to watch it.
The entire bunch of british isles do not purely consist of hooligan twats.
Though to bring another comparison into it.
Rugby tickets cost 2 to 3 times more than a football ticket. Yet there are visibly fewer police, Ive yet to hear of a rugby riot in Cardiff whilst there have been 1 or 2 riots relating to the FA Cup once in a while there. Rugby fans are more friendly less likely to go throwing bricks into windows.
Yet we pay more. Why is that?
Max... what do you think of the people who line the streets to support a specific team in the tour de france? hmm... hooligans too? because if your lumping all sports fans in the same boat, then dont forget them... what about bowls players? Golf? Cricket? hmm... yes yes... nationalist violence abound in those games.
yes yes... I remember the time when I saw Mr Dawson at 89 years of age, lamp Mrs Frome (a spritely 77 yr old herself) around the head with a bowls ball for streaking across the green and distracting him when he was making his final bowl....
I dislike blind allegiance to anything, be it religion, political parties, or sports teams. Its a cretinous habit.
Theres a difference between cheering your local boy making a goal and painting your dick blue in support of the Ontario Icicles.
Isnt a blind belief in not believing just as bad?

That makes zero sense. Perhaps youre alluding to the religion aspect of things, not the sporting end. To this Ill say: I know my local team exists, Ive seen them play and at least 99% of the people in the coluseum that day will agree with me that they competed with another team, and that their existance was not fabrication or some charismatic tale that was conconcted for widespread mind control.

It makes perfect sense. No religion in it whatsoever. Just belief in your sporting teams.
(you clearly have a massive fear of the god stuff so well steer clear of that).
But being someone who shows no commitment to supporting his countries effort in sport going around basically naysaying everything the supporters are putting into it. After all its the people buying the merchandise, the tickets, and paying $10 gazillion a pint for a pint of pisswater, that are funding your countries efforts in the sporting world, is just as bad as the hooligans who go around ruining your countries reputation.
Im not saying "if you dont like sport your anti-american" or any of that bollocks, but I think if there are avid fans out there that honestly look up to sporting greats and heros, then there is hope for a country yet.
Then again... we could all do what you seem to want us to do and sit on our arses getting fatter watching soap operas and bitching at the current state of the nation when it comes to obesity. I am sure you have sporting heros of your own, and things in the past that you can remember watching them and remembering "ahh that man was a legend" but you seem to have become infatuated with no longer believing in any sports team.
I should also add that it isnt nationalism that causes the riots over here or around the globe. The most violent riots are local games. Millwall vs Cardiff or Swansea Vs Cardiff are some of the most violent scenes Ive ever seen. In the case of Swansea vs Cardiff they are from the same damn country, and less than 45mins car journey apart.
ROFL, swansea v cardiff??? thats like a lovers tiff TBH. Gay pride is more violent.
lol Cardiff Soul Crew are pretty well known when it comes to violence.

Well it is rough in wales anyway TBH. Especially the south. ;)

You clearly have a comprehension disorder as Ive never claimed to be an atheist and have posted many times in theological discussions in regards to my understanding of certain passages in the scriptures. Yet you have many times accused me of being anti-christian or an atheist. Thats just cheap, find some new insult, hell--call me a f*cking towel-head whore monkey slant eyed frog eating sand nigger. Just be a little inventive.
No...
You have the comprehension problem here.
I simply acknowledge the fact that given your countries current situation with a nutter at the wheel who believes its is god who put him in power, then you understandably must have some anti-christian issues.
And as that statement says I was steering clear of it. Now... how about actually staying on topic and replying to the rest of my post. :)

will bum bandit do?? :D
lol :D Marmite Miner, Fudge Packer, Rear Gunner, Tail End Charlie...
A veritable forest of anti-homosexual insultage :D

Piss off, youve accused me of that over half a dozen times, and it gets really pathetic. Do I need to post pictures of me at 11:00 Sung Eucharist, or some snaps of me mugging with my pal, Rev. Janet in order to have some legitimacy with you? Or is your Christian Persecution Complex impenatrible? Heck, if youre good at searching the web, youll find me involved the the ceremony consecrating the latest bishop of Chicago--I even said a few words at the mike. Yup, Im anti-christian all right. Infiltrating them from the inside is all.
Quote from: maximusotterEngland is world famous for its violent "patriotic" fans, I aint being PC.
Its a reputation that isnt really deserved, plenty of other countries have football hooligans at least as bad as the UKs and some even worse. TBH I would rate ours as being distinctly average, they just get a lot of TV more coverage than average when they go international.
OK peeps remember this is entertainment and not Speakers Corner. Lighten it up a bit...

lol im assuming youve had a few too many budweisers and its gone to your head. You started us down the road of religion discussion here, you clearly have some issues if you see christian persecution going on. I personally was talking about your blind allegiance to nothing.. not god.
At the end of the day I have said nothing to paint you into a corner. Admittedly the last post I made before this and the gay bashing one was one intended to fuel the flames, but I dont believe Ive ever painted you as a christian hating idiot.
I tell you what gets really pathetic however you getting all uppity over a football song.
I think you need to take your "brewskies" and go sit outside and chill for a bit, its clear your out of intelligent conversation having to resort to painting me with anti-anti-christian slurs (now that... doesnt make sense) and so on, when it comes to this thread at least.
This has got personal far too quickly.
Start a new topic on thelism/nationalism. Any future posts are subject to deletion - this thread is about your opinion of Wills song, nothing more.

Indeed. Media allways has a talent for exaggerating. I just have to remind myself of some the violence that happens in south america.
There are reasons why our football stadiums dont have fences seperating the pitch and seating, where as other countries such as brazil have great wall of china high mesh fences and they still manage to break them down when rioting.
english fans are savage hooligans? dont make me piss...
this thread is full of ill-informed opinions.
1) England had hooligans who were most prevalent in the 80s - the actual amount of violence that goes on nowadays is relatively low due to increased police activity and intelligence.
2) Russia (and the former soviet states) and many balkan countries have hoolies which make the England thugs look like the girl guides.
3) The media and police conspire to put this idea of out of control hooligans across, as its very convenient copy for the papers and makes the police look good too.
Nationalism is a double edged sword - it can be used to promote hatred and bile to be poured by facists. It can also be used to give people identity and a feeling of pride, look at Korea when they beat italy in the 2002 WC - the nation was enraptured and promoted a new generation of sporting talent...
Bloody hell, guys, youve all gone way off topic.
Anyway, more opinions please! Good or bad, I love to hear em :D
Oh, next week well be finishing the song, going to get people from work together to do a big chorus!! :D
Big cheesy chorus, love it :D
