QuoteA Gears of War update should start pushing through the system at some point tomorrow, Tuesday January 9, 2007 prior to the two new multiplayer maps being available on Xbox Live Marketplace on Wednesday January 10, 2007.
The maps, plus an introductory video featuring Gears designer Cliff Bleszinski, are free thanks to the kind sponsorship by the Discovery Channels Future Weapons series which launches next Monday January 15th, 2007. Be sure to check out the show to see some really cool firepower. I expect game designers all across the country will be watching the Future Weapons series very carefully looking for ideas for their future games
Here is a list of what was addressed in this update:

ââ,¬Â¢ Reduced number of possible revives in Execution to match Warzone
ââ,¬Â¢ Removed host name from Ranked match server browser
ââ,¬Â¢ Disabled security cameras in Ranked matches
ââ,¬Â¢ Ranked matches now require balanced teams (3v3 or 4v4)
ââ,¬Â¢ Increased penalty for quitting a Ranked match to -50 points
ââ,¬Â¢ Added additional cheat detection code
ââ,¬Â¢ Additional housekeeping updates
Superb, theres a good few fixes in there that should make the game a little more playable :)
...they had to fix grenade tags before I get my bloody achievement though didnt they ;)
Hopefully this will make my gaming better. Someone had to be cheating along the way...I cant be that bad!!!

Its taken almost a year for me to *get over* how different it is playing FPS type games on a console. It was a bloody nightmare to start with !
A couple of yanks on a server I was on were talking about 2 blokes they knew of who had their Live! accounts banned for cheating/exploiting GoW. They didnt know the ins and outs of what they were doing other than it was something to do with map exploits :o

I didnt think much of the helicopter crash map but the "bones" map was quite good :)
The update appears to cause the connection issue box to be displayed a lot which is a bit of a PITA and nothing appears to have changed with grenade tagging imo !
