Two of my friends are wanting a new laptop each for xmas. I aint looked at them for years now so dont really know whats good and whats not etc.
Their wanting:
-> built in wireless
-> dedicated graphics, like the ATI Radeon Xpress type....is the higher the model number the better with these? like 1100 is better than 300 etc?
-> at least 1Gb of RAM
-> at least a 60Gb hard drive, would like more though
-> also, a lot seem to have a celeron processor........now when I was in to computers, these use to be pretty poor.....is this still the case?
They will be used for college work, internet, games etc....
And lastly....price needs to be around Ã,£400......Ã,£430 MAX really.
Thanks for any help guys :)
http://www.tekforums.co.uk/posts/list/4849.page - quite a few around Ã,£400 there.
The cellys aint setting no speed records but theyre fine for office & internet.
I wouldnt buy owt from novatech, but something like this
one (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/nbrange.html?RVF) for Ã,£410 + a bit for and extra 512mb, Ã,£470ish?
Cheers sdp, will check all them out! That one your sis got would have been perfect if the gfx card was better!!
Problem is most laptops are intended for business use and have terrible or non-existent 3D graphics unless you are willing to pay through the nose
Yeah the gfx on the acer one is apparently fairly budgety but to be fair it works way better than the onboard gfx of days gone by.
The ati thing does look worth the extra;

From what you are describing you want a Gaming spec laptop at buisness use prices... :?
TBH, there are quite a few out there with the ATI card in......although you seem to sacrifice RAM for the graphics card!
bim that onboard uses 128-256mb system ram.
Ive not looked into this much at all.
Quote from: sdpbim that onboard uses 128-256mb system ram.
huh? lol. You mean the onboard stuff can use up to 256MB of the systems overall RAM??
A bit over budget but I thought id mention it. Aldi have a laptop in at the moment, i think a few people on there have found them good laptops. Fits all your requirements too.
