They need to leave the classics alone and stop going through the list of directors whos films they can bastardise for a cheap buck!

"contemporised adaptation" = sh*tflick to milk the $$$ with a shallow watered down film to suit the demographic

 :stupid:

What could they possible do? 4 boobies?
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

I wouldnt mind if they wanted to take a fresh look a Dicks source material and come up with a new concept or interpretation but the fact that theyve just said "lets remake the film" instead is irritating.

There are always some films that need following up with modern technology. Take the new Tron Film, or the fact that they are doing a sequel to the Last Starfighter. Thats not bad; its just indicative of the fact that all of us who were children of the 80s and grew up with these films now have more disposable income to spend visiting the cinema and buying the blu-ray, and a lot of people from our generation have also grown up to become involved in the film industry and they want to pay homage to the things they remember from childhood. Even the forthcoming Conan films Im quite looking forward to, because as great as they are they are nothing like the original Robert E Howard material so its about time someone took a fresh look at it and came up with something interesting.

Sometimes however the "remake" beggars belief, especially if the original hasnt dated or doesnt need it at all.

In other remake news:

http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/06/03/robot-chicken-scribe-to-write-short-circuit-remake/

Its official I think; Hollywood has completely run out of ideas.

dogbert

Why on earth do they keep returning to the same mateiral when there are hundreds of Sci-Fi writters and thousands of stories to choose from?!

Sad and boring, I want new stuff!!!  :drama:

Serious

The original was pretty damn poor. The remake, on past performance, is going to be worse.

The original was fantastic. It was so good, you could even say it was of Clint Eastwood quality.

I agree it was a fantastic film.

High praise indeed from you Sam, saying it was Eastwood quality.  8-)
