For one, because the "Fedora for Dummies" book is extremely well written and reviewed. ;)
With Ubuntu, I think the forums are as good of a place for fixes, but sometimes its nice to just have a real book in hand.

They are damn good. We use them regularly in support queries with our students (speaking about my employer) :)
